You’re all wrong. Lol. It’s all good. It all works. Never trusted the little bags of grease. I hear they work too. They’re for those high class fancy Drivers that don’t get their hands dirty. You know the ones with their fancy Shiny spotless Trucks. Pockets full of cash. Women in every city. Lol.

Where so tight here we take pieces of cardboard fold it over and scrape the outside edge of 5th wheel. Then reapply it to the 5th wheel. Then fold cardboard over grease keeps cardboard stuck together and throw away Little to no mess.

I’m lazier than all of you it sounds like. I get the grease packets and slap em on the back of my 5th wheel. Upon hooking they bust and smear up the plate just as @Catmando described.

Open the grease tube. Tap the metal end to the plate and the grease slides down inside the tube to the plate. Just tap and slide the grease tube.
I then cap the end to use again next time.Rideandrepair, ducnut, Keepforgettingmypassword and 1 other person Thank this. -

A mechanic friend that was going out of business gave my granddad a 1/2 full 55 gallon drum of grease. There is a stick that stays in the drum and there is a stick stuck in it to apply grease to a 5th wheel. The grease is of unknown quality so we only use it to grease 5th wheels.
That was 40+ years ago when we got the 1/2 drum, there is still at least 1/4 left. It’s kept the 5th wheels greased on 6 trucks during that time.blairandgretchen, Midwest Trucker, JoeyJunk and 4 others Thank this.
