Yeah, I like the Southwest only 'cause I'm more from here having lived in a few different places and grown up out here. I ain't got nothing against anything out East, but I draw a line short of through Chicago, IL to just short of Charlotte, NC and only cross it if I want to be on vacation. Been there a couple times with 18-wheels and then asked my doctor if it was good for my heart to feel like it was about explode every 15mins... I hear some of the NE drivers say much the opposite about my world though. They always ask me how anyone could stand living in the middle of nowhere with nothing but high mountains and rolling sage brush. I just keep thinking about where I might want to park my fishing rod rather than where I can find parking not fit for a bicycle. Some like it hot, some like it not, but I like to keep my wheels turnin' shy of where they ought not (especially like on top of someone's double parked Lamborghini or Ferrari).

Once you get up in the desert running 55mph and not stopping can make you more than running 65mph and paying tolls every so often. And then once you're out of there you can really make good time. And I'm sure you could make better time on I-5 against I-95 if it weren't for the mountains. I just hate paying tolls.

But you also you have to at the infrastructure of the west vs the east. The cities in the east were founded many years before the cities in the west so you have better laid out roads in the west. For example, you ever drive your car in Washington DC?

lol There's tons of truth to that.

Stop and go traffic with tolls every 30 or so miles will drop your average miles per hour like a rock in an empty well. Once you get out of Hollywood you can roll into tomorrow unless you stumble into Bay Area commute traffic. Even blowing through Oklahoma after Midnight and before Dawn with all the tolls can slow your roll a bit. The same dangers exist with people slamming on their brakes and cutting off flowing traffic, but there's so much less of it to deal with in areas out West than in the East.

Some of the places in the original 13 colonies are still designed for horse and buggy but have been improved a bit over the last 50years for the short vans to get in and out of. I still have moments where I question how I was able to dock at a few places around O'Hare International and over by the Brooklyn Bridge, but I did it (at least once anyway). There are still a few places out here (like in the Southgate to to the Long Beach areas) that have docks designed for shortbox but they pale in comparison and number to the original 13.

Getting lost out NE can be a little too much fun too 'cause you never know what low clearance obstruction you will see next. Could be someone's laundry line with pretty pink nickers or it could be an alley with a missing chain link fence but still have the prison grade barb wire strung straight across where you can see it on the same field of vision directly in front of your eyes while sitting in the cab.

At the same time though there are construction detours out here in the SW that might take you to a great fishing hole but can be entirely too exciting when trying to figure out how to get back to the main roads where vehicles of this size and variety can safely maneuver. Oh, and then there are those places out here where there isn't supposed to be anything but you find armed people and lots of suspicious looking things making you wish you where somewhere else.

You just never know what fun times there are to be had out here, but honestly they are few and far between. Try everything once and then decide if it's for you or not, but do listen to advice from others even if some are so unbelievable that you really should make sure it's true before going in to far on your own.

Corner's are bad, even when times are good. I like the south and still have some decent (not great) freight. Just OK
