Where to get a tractor Inspected before purchasing it?

For that much money you could get something newer an from a better Dealer network.
Even used Gliders.

But 70k is way too much

 

After market/OEM warranties on used trucks
OEM/factory warranties help , not to sure about aftermarket warranties

 

Sounds to me like you either got yourself a clueless salesman or he thinks you're clueless.

Soon as he told me the truck had a "fresh" DOT done by TA I would have laughed in his face. That would mean 0 to me when I'm prepared to spend many thousands of dollars on a truck. A $99 DOT inspection is something you or anyone else could do. Its basically a 10 minute lights, tires, brakes basic check to satisfy DOT requirements by having a piece of paper...

The health of the engine is what your looking for. Get a Dyno done, ECM dump, blowby test.

Lookup a video on YT by Rawze called "Buyer Beware" whats found in that video is what your looking for.

 

He did a video with the older black gentleman that bought a green pro star from Arrow. The results were not good.

 

Did you get maintenance records?
Like another person said check for blow by, look for oil leaks possible and check the hours. Also do your research on the cummins isx, theres alot of videos on youtube telling the common issues with those engines. If that truck has high idle hours you might want to pull the valve cover and inspect the camshaft to make sure its not damaged. Also those engines put out alot of soot so having the maintenance records will really help you.

 

Just me but I would Not buy a truck From Arrow Truck Sales....
Their word is no good
The warranties they offer are no good either.. and there has been more than a few threads and posts on here how people have been screwed by them...

Based off of your all's feedback I'm going to just walk away from this one. I wanted this one to work out but I had a sour taste when the salesman refused to work with me on having a proper inspection done.

Just an FYI, for the age of the truck and the miles, it was used in city or local work which is harder on a truck.

so a dyno is needed, complete inspection at the minimum.

 

A dyno test , blow by test , rig dig , and ECM dump , then if it passes those , have a mechanic inspect it closely including removing the valve covers and inspecting the camshaft .
And that’s way too high price


That truck would sell for $15-18k at an auction .

 

I would not trust odometers on any used truck. It is better to assume that the truck has at least 500 000 miles. I'd take it to a Freightliner dealer's shop to do the tests other members advised. Otherwise, you gamble and the 30K may be gone quicker than you make any profits with the truck.
