Yeah, I can't sleep in the moving truck. It's not a trust issue for me. I also would never consider team driving even for big money. I never got tired enough in 8 weeks of teaming that I could sleep in the moving truck more than an hour or so. In my life I never got so tired as when teaming with my trainer. And that was before the rumble strip speakers and radar controlled panic stops and the rest of the safety stuff.

Trainer rode up front with me for about an hour, said you handle the truck well... Then went to sleep.

I slept at night while he drove. Still alive.

Had to wake him up when i got off the interstate first two weeks. Woke him up for a few extra things.

Last two weeks never woke him up until it was time to back at the terminal.

Worked out well. For my sanity and probably his too.

I had to team drive when I first started with Werner.... I hated it... I went thru 3 trainers at Werner because the first 2 were idiots...

What many old timers forget is we had trainers... not 3 month wonders on a lease to own plan just looking for a extra log book .. I understand what the op is trying to say . He wants a trainer not a co driver in a team.. I applaud him for wanting to learn the correct way

I didn't read most of the responses since it's turned into a typical bickering fest

How do you feel about a company where you have a trainer but you don't run as a team ? Meaning , the trainer is there in the passenger seat while you drive ; and you both sleep together (no homo)

Also ,Watkins&Shepard used to not require teaming/training but I'm not sure now since they're with Schneider ?!?!

Spending 24 hours a day with someone moves you from stranger, to good friends in a day or two. You’ll spend 24 hours talking to them over two days of driving. You haven’t talked to your best friend that much in a year!
