thanks I did some more searching and searched for FUEL MILEAGE instead of MPG and got ALOT of results.

Looks like a Areo Freightliner, or T600 with a 12.7 detriot and 13 speed with a low 3.xx rear ratio is gonna be the best for the money.

    thanks everyone,

Look at what Masilla Valley Trucking uses.

Fleet Average is over 9 mpg and governed at 66 mph.

Highest fuel mileage driver in fleet every quarter gets a brand new Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

I looked at their website. Do you know their specs? They have no used trucks for sale to see the specs.

    Not a bad idea.
Probably half the drivers are putting unrecorded fuel in out of their pockets in order to try win the Harley.

All their used trucks goes to Border International Dealership in El Paso, TX. The owner of MVT also owns this dealership that explain the fleet of Internationals.

    http://www.borderintl.com/pre_owned...h&industry=5&submit_form.x=24&submit_form.y=9

I have also heard these are the lemons or ones giving problems by not getting above 8 mpg that MVT gets rid of thru this dealership.

Just look at the specs of those used trucks to get some ideas. There is 3 of the blue 2008 International Pro-Stars on there now that was part of the MVT fleet.

Mesilla Valley trucks are spec'd with around 400-415 hp running mostly Cummins ISX in the Prostars. They have 40,000lb rears with 2.5 gear ratios. Transmission's are 10 speed auto's and 22.5 super singles. They are actually only running 62mph, but their trucks are equipped with full side skirts and trailor tails which they claim saves them 8.5% on fuel usage with full aero package.

this truck is owned by scania they drive their parts from sweden to nederland they drive parts for their plant

trucks are mainly r480 euro6 norm which is same as your latest epa 1850lb-ft of torque with gross weight of 88200lbs they get 9.11mpg (or 25.7L/100km loaded in both direction

result can be even better on normal truck ( this trailer is higher than normal , wheels are lower so this make fuel economy worst....also high cab instead of aero make difference

    tires are 295/60r22.5

gearbox is direct drive fully automated opticruise , and differential ratio is 2.07 they have cruising speed at 960rpm

they make 360 000km per year on each truck (223 000milles)

i know you will not use this but maybe you could find some interesting solution for you
