That guy Chris Holland that supposedly designed the rfx 85 could put one in your radio. You would have to tell him not to do one of the crappy tunes that he does for 95% of his customers but that turns the radio into a splatter box. Tell him you want a special tune that doesn't splatter like most of his customers and supposedly from what I hear he will give you what you ask for.
Dude your way over the top saying that !!!! He has many satisfied customers thru out the USA as do many other cb techs out here. Why worry about it... I'm telling ya send it to boo boos whack and hack cb shack
Most of his customers are very happy. Most of his customers are difficult to understand. I met one guy once that had his radio tuned by Chris and it sounded crystal clear. The guy had to put in a special request to make it crystal clear without distortion.
Sounds to me like the owner of the radio doesn't know how to dial in his own radio.... Chris brings radios back up to factory settings after he repairs them. Like it or not he has one of the best reputations for doing radio repair and radio work in the United States and that comes outta the mouths of the better techs out here... although there are only so many of those.. a whole lot of them who can't repair a radio for someone tell their customers to send it to him.... these are techs who have 20plus or more years radio repair experience.... I've been around awhile certain things I know out here on the road....
Question. Is it possible to buy a cb and antenna setup that have been matched to each other? In other words, if I call shop xyz, and we'll assume for the sake of discussion that this shop has an excellent reputation for their work, and tell them what radio I want and what I want done to it, could they also match and tune an optimal antenna setup at the same time?
He definitely has a reputation for having some of the stupidest customers on the planet. Perhaps you could refer me to a single reputable technician that thinks Chris work is halfway decent good because I have yet to find that person and I've been to almost every technician in the country. His work speaks for itself. His customers are loud up close and they disappeared out of my receiver when they get five miles down the road. Unless of course you have been to be one of the few smart people that puts in a special request to have him do the job correctly otherwise he will assume you are just as stupid as the rest of his customers and do it the way he does it for almost everyone
He's an excellent repairman and very good at troubleshooting things but he's completely clueless when it comes to tuning receivers and transmitters
Common Sense would dictate if you need 25 times the power to talk the same distance, or if you can't hear him unless you're within 15 miles of him, it's time to find a better technician.. Or perhaps maybe finding a better more efficient antenna system.
Check out this black blob that Chris Holland neglected to remove from his customers radio. I'm not quite sure what he was thinking. The hack job was actually done by "Bullet Bob" who is one of those well-known keydown idiots up in Northern California but the customer took it to Chris Holland to fix up the hack job and Chris didn't exactly unhack it.
