Why are trucks driving in the inside/high speed and HOV lanes?

If you are referring to me, I am 45 and have been driving trucks since 1985. I haven't had a ticket in 11 years, haven't had an accident in a truck - well I had one once in 1987 when I got a tractor out of the shop and the mechanics had re-hooked an airline on the brake system wrong. I didn't KNOW that and I didn't find that out until I needed to hit the brakes "heavier". Upon doing that, the brakes didn't apply until almost 2 SECONDS after I hit the pedal. I slammed into the guardrail to attempt to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I DID end up hitting it, but fortunately it was minor damage. I have learned a lot since then. Where you get the idea I am "only 20" - no clue.

You are obviously a very-well educated person.
    Enough said.

Indeed. However, I am of the mindset that drivers should set an example, not stoop to driving like 4-wheelers. I believe the idea of having a trooper in the passenger seat of a semi driving through town, calling ahead to other troopers to bust 4-wheelers doing the stuff that they do to trucks is a great idea and I wish more cities/states would do it.

Thank you, but I take no offense. I don't really care what you or anyone else on this board thinks of me or my intention of getting bad drivers off the road. Last week, I saw a driver (truck, of course) driving erratically on the freeway. This went on for miles - I was behind him. I pulled up beside him to find out what was going on - he was texting while driving and he was paying more attention to the phone and texting than he was the to the road.
Yup, I called his company and reported him.

Pretty easy to spot a "Photo Enforcement Zone" before you actually are IN it. There are huge, yellow signs just like a Yield sign that say one of 2 things: Photo Enforcement Zone 1/2 Mile or Photo Enforcement Zone 300 Feet.
If you don't see either of those signs and you are going THAT fast over the speed limit (11 mph to trigger the cameras) you deserve to get caught.

The bypass I'm assuming you are referring to is the "Truck Route" which is commonly referred to as the Maricopa Freeway, otherwise known as I-17. It does not add any miles to the trip. Unless you are referring to Riggs road west off of I-10 before coming into the city - I would not suggest using this route because it is a 2-lane highway with very low speed limits going through the reservation. You come into the "town" and the speed limit reduces to 35 MPH for several miles and then back into Phoenix on surface streets with speed limits no higher than 45mph.

Considering the hate and denigration I have received on this post from other, it is highly unlikely I will be posting the name of the video to be able to find. I have numerous other videos having to do with my personal life on there - I can just imagine the comments coming from the ilk that is to be found here with what I have seen on this posting. No offense to you - or anyone else that found it within themselves to reply without puking all over the place in form of denigrating verbalization.

It can be done, and in fact I used to do it for a living. However, kinda like flying an airplane in turbulence while navigating and talking with ATC, you have to be VERY careful and demonstrate ability to multi-task safely. I was a trucking safety instructor, and filmed many hours of video while driving. If any situation presented itself that would overwhelm my ability to do it safely, I'd break it off without hesitation.
As for the O.P. ... WTF? When I'm driving a large truck, I try to stay out of the left lane, but it doesn't really bother me if someone else is. In fact, I will move to the left when there's a bunch of merging traffic ahead. Safer for me, and for those trying to enter the freeway.

Well, it's a bit different reply than I expected. I have held a camera in my hand in the past aiming it at whatever - but neither looking at the camera nor at whatever I'm attempting to aim it at. THat wasn't in the city on heavy-volume traffic freeways, either.
WTF? Is it really that difficult to understand? What is the point of a truck being in the HOV lane going 55 in a 65 zone? Hold up traffic? When there are 4, 5 or 6 lanes going in one direction, there is no good reason for this. Even staying out the "entrance and exit" lanes, you can still stay out of the 2 furthermost inside lanes.
