Actually, I always thought those guys made top buck, I'm shocked to see, according to Indeed, of which I have no affiliation with whatsoever, it's not a heck of a lot more than any other, in the $28-$35/hr. range, WITH 5 years exp..The $250K/yr,,one,,,nah, a local gas hauler out of Pueblo was advertising $28/hr. to start.

For everyone complaining about the media BUT STILL CONSUMING IT EVERYDAY, recognize how cartoonish the media is when they discuss anything about trucking. They miss obvious details, they would report semi-trucks leaping over buildings as a matter of practice daily if one of their sources told them it happened. The reporters and editors have zero experience on anything but practicing their concerned, waiting/listening head nod as they are being asked a question form the studio. They don't know anything about politics, history, the rest of the world except CA & NYC. They don't know if 2/3rds is smaller or larger than 1/4. That is a question for the math professors at the university. They are told what the story of the day will be today and they go find some names of the "poors" to put into a story or mention on air so you think they spent all day researching and building the 18 second story they read off a teleprompter. If you volunteer to be ignorant you did it to yourself. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Stop making excuses for being misled or ignorant.

On every subject there are people that only get to live indoors because they understand that subject and they have followed that subject for decades. That's who you should follow if you want to know about that subject. You won't miss anything important if you spend a couple of days studying subject A, then some time studying subject B, etc. Instead most people hooked on a diet of "news" just want to hear a few headlines so they can tell the next person who just heard the exact same words what that headline said. It's a dog chasing its tail just to avoid thinking about something else. Being ignorant like everyone else doing the same dysfunctional pattern isn't a good excuse. The internet makes experts and expert analysis easier now than ever in history. You can know more than kings and professors of the past or you can watch idiots argue which sports team should recruit the 8th grade wonder from Dirt Mound Middle School.

So I guess the only perk to fuel hauling is hone daily. Those numbers actually surprise me too. That isn't anymore than what I make otr.

May I ask why you're wanting to get out of tanker and go into reefer or dry van?

Most people do it the other way around and wind up much happier in the end.

There is NO driver shortage, never was.

This is a fleet market now, it has been for a few months. we have too many drivers, most are very crappy drivers and don't need to be in the industry.

you have a clean cdl...so do the 150 other guys applying. nobody cares about that anymore other than insurance purpose. can you hold a conversation, are you up to their appearance standards? There's a bazillion reasons why you wont get the job. Idk where you live but you need to get off indeed and go drive around. someone asked for your zip to help you out. lets see what were up against here. In another thread there talking about the almighty "Sheetz" gas haulers, ok. $30 an hour to start. still waiting for the top out pay. Company drivers are going to be topped no matter where you go or how clean your record is. its trucking. seems like 30-37 an hour is the top of the list of the CDL company local guy. now, you can get time and half after 40 some places so its kinda worth it. unless your a teamster at ups that new contract tops out at 43 an hour? idk not sure what your looking for honestly.

Waiting list??? Are you telling me that you were able to get an actual person on the line to verify that??? Most places don't even answer the phone. I just hope these companies have found other tasks for their recruiters. They don't seem to be doing a whole lot of recruiting these days.
