Why do so many truckers pack themselves into rest areas?

Its a nightly struggle for me. I need a truck stop because I can't go to sleep well at all without a shower. And in a filthy bed as a result? And then of course it has to be one with a free shower on my card. Yet I am also a person that hates to leave miles on the highway. Sucks to be me. Just have to wing it. Sometimes I leave some miles out there, but sometimes Ill go an unplanned extra 100 miles just for a truck stop with my free shower. Really, ID GO EVEN FURTHER AND HAVE.

The way people out here can just blow off the need to have a shower mostly every night amazes me...nasty ##### :biggrin_2559:
Must be why they drive trucks for a living.

fleet, u get that dirty sitting behind the wheel in the a/c.??

    I don't.

    every other night works fine.

this ain't a 9-5 job, where u go home after, get a shower, have a nice home cooked meal waiting and have clean sheets in the linen closet.
although I do pack an extra set of sheets.

I wet a clean t shirt, clean up , I'm good to go.

ever been in the military? this is living high on the hog !!!!

I wondered this myself when I drove OTR. A rest area would be jam packed with barely enough room to maneuver, yet the coop 3 miles away with overnight parking was wide open. I'd park at the coop instead of dealing with the madness.

About the only ones i use are the big ones in FL. Free internet in most of them and plenty of parking.

Other than that i sleep at one of my delivery locations.I have keys to the building for the restrooms and 90% of them are in decent areas.
Perks of running a dedicated account.

parking in a coop is a good place , quite and secure. if you know it's allowed.

I luv the KY ones. just don't know which state allows it.

GA used to run you off, now I think they let you.

you're not driving hard enough if you never have to park in rest areas.
