We are paid from the time we log on to pre-trip till the end of our post trip and all hours in between. Yes to answer the burning question everyone always asks, there were a few bad apples that abused this in the beginning. They were quickly weeded out. Our small group of hourly guys really enjoy being hourly so we keep each other honest about the hours we bill.
    the hourly rate is $60.00

To the company or to the driver?
    What's the drivers pay?

When I've talked about hourly being the way it should be there is always someone who says "But what about the slackers". With ELD and GPS it isn't that hard for management to get rid of them just as you said. Management gets paid to manage. Let them.

we are company drivers. None of us own a bolt on these trucks. That hourly rate is ours. Trust me I had given up on car haul before this. They had to beg me to come down to an interview. I wasn’t interested in buying a truck , or working as a sub - contractor. It was refreshing to find. Company that would stand up and say “ this is what it costs”
Now don’t get me wrong. It’s not all sunshine over here. I’m not home every weekend, and if we are away from home for our time off we have to bare the cost of flying home, but I still think with the added costs of flights every few weeks I’m still ahead. Oh and just to add to the age old fight… we ARE teamsters as well with new equipment!!

Long time nearly 30 year former Teamster here. I am not looking to be an employee ever again, but others may be looking for an opportunity to better themselves. You sound proud of your job and you should be. Let us all know who this company is so they can grow their business by attracting more experienced carhaulers like yourself to join their ranks and help lead the industry back to the top of the trucking world, where Carhaul should still be. I am aware of several companies currently charging the Shippers hourly to secure the rig capacity, but unaware of any with long term contracts doing so. Which would possibly explain the need to fly home as the drivers I and familiar with have to follow the volume by going anywhere needed.

You’re completely correct. We do have to chase allocations but the difference is when you’re compensated fairly for it that doesn’t bother a guy as much. We are on the same program as some of the fellas from Romulus , but they aren’t getting the money trickled down to them. For that reason I’m Hesitant to disclose too much on the open forum but if anyone is interested I’ll answer more questions privately.

The difference is we make that consistently. Yes on peace work there are some amazing rates and runs but if we get shutdown early because of a dealership not taking nightdrops , or border issues we are still fairly compensated
