Why would you buy a kenworth over a freightliner?

Pick the driveline you want. The body is just the wrapper for the candy.

I dunno, given identical drivetrain, I'd take a T800 over just about any Freightliner except a Classic or FLD. Driveline matters, yes, but the bits holding all that together aren't any less important. I've been in more Columbias and Centurys than I care to admit (casualty of working for Ryder), and their build quality strikes me as disposable. Even Mack Visions are better put together, as (In my not at all humble opinion ;-)) are the much-maligned Sterlings.

I drive an 07 Century. I am still waiting for the rattles you all talk about to show up.

Any "rattle" or "squeak" I find is because of something I don't have stored properly.

Yeah my Freightliners don't rattle. I hate an 07 Century and a 02 Fld. Fld is certainly a strong and durable truck. If you can get one that looks decent and for a good price I suggest you jump on it.

Why would you buy a rolex over a disney plastic watch? Freighliner's are throw away trucks. Kenworth's are keepers. That's why you see old Pete's and Kwoppers in truck shows. They're built to last!

Kenworths are too small inside, I never liked them. Volvos are the most comfortable and smoothest ride, most storage, but too heavy and expensive to fix.
Freightliners are the most economical, that's why they are the most popular.

When I look at trucks to daydream about buying one day, I search for Detroit 12.7L for best fuel mileage, then anything pre EGR, then I sort them by mileage, and if there is an older truck that has been overhauled, then I keep that in my favorites. I think 35k for 740k miles is a little bit too much. It had better come with a 100k mile warranty for that price.

I picked a freightliner over KW for a couple reasons. Service centers are everywhere, parts are easier to obtain and much cheaper, Bottom line, maintenance is far less with freightliner than KW. More money in my pocket. dollar for dollar, far better. The value of a Kw does hold better than a freightliner. However, add your cost of maintaining your Kw over time I'll beat it.

I can't agree, drove a t800 for many years, felt like I was in a pop corn machine. No room, bounced around like a rubber ball, king pins always going, front tires wore off before their time. Truck was maintenance every 12-15k, so it was taken care of. Not to mention electrical problems. t2000 was even worst. Again hard to find a KW dealer to do warranty work out on the road, once you did, took for ever to get your truck in. Time is money, KW stamped parts=Mega dollars.
