If they make you still do some training, what are the catches? Commitments?

Prime pays at least as well as most companies hiring experienced drivers after you go solo. It is fairly easy to get .36 cpm with them and .42 with the fuel bonus. Yeah, you have to work for them for a year but you get a lot of driving time before you go solo, you get OTR experience before your skills test and you take said test in the very truck you got your practice in and they give you $200 advances till you get your CDL and then $600 a week or .12 cpm if your mileage adds up to more than $600 at that 12 cents. Yes you run team with that second trainer but who cares, he is 6 foot behind you if you need him. The only real problem here is if you get a bad trainer but I haven't seen many complaints about that on here or anywhere else.

And to make this clear, the company I worked for last totaled mine and my wife's credit so loans are out, my family either doesn't have money or won't loan that amount so we are down to robbing a bank and no I am not going there, LOL. Prime might not be the gold under the rainbow, but I am betting I can cruise through that year they require and make money doing it.

With all that said, another route might be to check with companies that hire school graduates about sending you through a school, I know they do this because TMC and some others were doing it here a while back. I don't think it was actually them but a third party company but I know a guy that got his training paid for by TMC this way. So those companies can and might tell you how to go about this.
