Honestly just stop declaring your charge on your application. I really doubt that anyone cares about the charge. It's more likely your lack of seat time, but of you think it's the charge then simply don't report it.

It was only a misdemeanor, just a slap on the wrists. Don't worry at all. It was nothing. You are completely hirable and will get a job. Just keep looking and applying. Summer time is coming as well so start checking out companies that haul dirt or construction debris. They are always hiring.

The jobs mostly suck but you'll get valuable seat time that can get you in elsewhere

You can also petition the courts to have the charge expunged from your record.

A charge from 09 at the most you may have to wait till its five years old to land a job with a good carrier and that's not to much farther away just stay away from drugs and alcohol someone will probably hire .

Also you have to think about this if I apply for the same job u do and my record is clean but we are equal in driving skills and things like that they will take me over u just because my record is clean and yours is not. You might want to try a small op like rock hauler

I didn't read all post so this may have been covered.
Why didn't you ask this BEFORE starting school? Does the school offer placement asstance? Ifso hit them up! They should have talked to you about this and made it clear it would be hard to get any job let alone a good one.

Many companies require 10 years for any drug charge, even when they state things like only 5 years for misdemeanors. I had trouble with an 8 year old misdemeanor possession when I first started. I ended up finding a job though but 4 years isn't that old to a lot of companies.

That could really back-fire on a person....lying on an application is WRONG , omitting anything that can later be construed as lying can cost you a really good job. I cannot understand how not being up-front and honest would be the to do.....To the OP...you should have asked the school or their recruiter these questions before you spent the coin to get a CDL that may be useless for several years or one that you may never use. Like I said in a prior post on this thread , you may have trouble getting a job, mostly because of the insurance underwriters , but not telling a company about it or withholding info deliberately sure won't help.

You might want to determine which carriers would work for your geography etc. then call them one by one.
None of us can tell you exactly how your particular situation will pan out with complete accuracy.
Could be the arrest report is part of the package - are we talking conspiracy to traffic, a half a joint, marijuana vs. narcotics?
I don't need to know, but the carrier might. In some jurisdictions, crim charges last forever. Criminal charges as levied by a state are subject to that states handling of criminal histories. There is no magic federal expiration of criminal records date. Passage to Canada with any drug conviction is likely not possible, without some corrective actions to allow passage via the Canadian Government. The border guards WILL see the conviction if or when they look for it on their computers. Obviously not every carrier is interested in Canada. On the other hand, some insist upon the driver's ability to run Canada. I think Schneider insists upon Canada for their OTR divisions, but I can't swear to that.

I've never done it in a commercial vehicle, but I have been to Canada multiple times since having a drug possession. I'm guessing it would be harder in a truck though.

As far as the company caring about the circumstances, they won't. I had 0.5g of weed and could barely get a job because of it. Like I said before, if it's drug related 95% of the starter companies require it to be over 10 years old.

Was it a posession of less than an ounce? In California less than an ounce is an infraction. I wouldn't report it. If it comes up just tell them it's an infraction and the application didn't ask about infractions. If it was more than an ounce youre going to have a hard time. Lots of people with clean records are turning to trucking. Most companies are going to pick the squeaky clean guy over a guy with a record. That's just the way it is.
