I had L4 and 5, done in 1984, then C6 done in 1986. My only limitations are range of movement with my neck. I really have to depend on mirrors. It has never come up when I have taken my physicals. In fact the only time I failed one was because of my hearing, so had to purchase a hearing aid. I can drive for 11 hours. The only problem you may have eventually is my problem now, which is degenerative disks, but since you are already fused that may negate that. I can barely walk 100 feet sometimes. As another posted, just tell them you need no touch freight. Some of those questions are generic. Unless you take a job unloading at parts stores or Dollar General, it's doubtful you will ever touch frieght anway. The most I had to do last year was just put a strap on the E-track and raise the back door.
Will my spinal fusion 4 years ago be a problem to get hired out of school?

But you have received several good replies. Now u know what's up. So moving forward what's your plans? -
There truly are some questions you just don't answer honestly. How many people actually answer an application question that says: Have you ever done any illegal drugs in your lifetime? in the affirmative. Best to just keep ya mouth shut.

But if you don’t have any issues and don’t take any medicine I wouldn’t mention -
I also fused L4 L5 S1, no issues but had done while employed. Doctor put no lift over 40 lb EVER on my return to work although I’m perfectly fit. Fine with me
BTW,,,which clinic in Thailand? I considered clinic in India but then surgeon from India came through for me here in Canada..didn’t want any local yokel slicing and dicing around my spinal cord -
you never know what any company will put you through for a DOT physical. or physical agility testing. if the DOT doctor tells you to touch your toes, like several said to me to do, they run thier fingers up your spine to feel for things that may be a problem. plus of course, the doctor WILL SEE the scar.
it's a chance you take, but i'd not mention the operation.
however the caveat here, is that should you hurt yourself, and you get sent in for x-rays, or an MRI, and that hardware IS found?
you run the risk of the insurance denying you any operation, physical therapy, as you lied on the application, or with held information..
might even get fired for misrepresenting yourself and falsifying an application.

One driver on here was rejected because he said he had hernia surgery 12 years ago.
I had hernia surgery also, but never told anyone about it. -
I have a T6-L2 spinal fusion (that's 8 vertebrae). My left ankle is also fused and has been for most of my life. I've worked as a paramedic in a busy 911 system and also worked on rescue medic units where I was required to rappel as well as handle heavy hydraulic tools like the Jaws of Life. I never once had an issue. The only time it became an issue was in a pre-hire physical where the doctor examining me started to make a big deal over it and I had the feeling was going to wash me out.
