    Then why come to trucking? In case you haven't noticed, we're in competition with those same people who think $1 per mile is good money. The rates are low because our competition is high...on what I'm not sure.

    The OP is still just talking about being an o/o, while still degrading all those that are actually doing it. How long has it been? ETA, looks like 2 years under this screen name. I just figured out your old name too. What did you get banned for the first time, NewNashGuy?

    @Oscar the KW ....not really...

    What happens in IT field is that you become very proficient on a specific language i.e. cobol. Problem is, it's an old language. Or say a very specialized language that not widely used.

    For this reason, you get paid VERY well, in the short run.

    As time goes, new tech/ usually open source becomes available, and now fewer players are calling on you....and as you "age"...younger kids, with open source experience come into the field, and are cheaper...and sometimes, these players MAY also happen to be H1b holders that can be "swapped in/out" as "consultants" by foreign-based employers with "US-based" offices.

    Now imagine have to re-learn a whole slew of new languages, just to keep up...all while these "foreign-based" employers are playing tricks on these consultant i.e. holding them captive for their work permits and threatening to black-list them in their master list that's used by other non-US companies that provide "consultants" to US IT companies.

    Does DAC "preventables" ring a bell? Where a driver has to stay put, at a carrier that may mess up their driving history if they leave???....yeah, u get the picture.

    I'm not surprised that the OP is expressing his frustrations....coz I've been there.

    Oh...and before y'all even digest what I've written....I.T. field is about to experience even more fall out...

    Microsoft & Google now has self-replicating code that uses Artificial intelligence to re-write bad/inefficient code. It searches for good code, and copies/paste & cleans up...

    At some point it's gonna act like "The Matrix" and won't need human to code. You just give it a request verbally, and it writes the code for you...think Amazon's Alexa on steroids....

    Should be enough provided you look for the right loads, know your costs and can negotiate. You'll need to know what each lane pays before booking something.

    Yes and why I feel all of these posts he makes are either trolling,.. or there is some other underlying issue.

    No one in their right mind leaves a cushy $100k+ annual income working from home to go become a company truck driver. As Spock would say. "That is illogical".

    There has to be more to it,.. or he's left out a lot of details.

    I managed databases and my field of expertise was networks, logical routing, security etc. I never had to code very much. At most,.. edit a script, recompile some code and automate anything that became redundant.

    I never got the money they promised and left after only a short stint in the IT field. It was not what I imagined it would be like. Doing the same thing, day in and day out,.. over and over,.. hours and hours on end,.. it was maddening. That and I had issues with a kid 12 yrs younger, talking down to me and the social inner office politics at meetings drove me insane. I was a right wing conservative surrounded by extreme left liberals. My fate was sealed.
