Apparently you are not paying attention to what is going on in the world .

we still have 237s and a 290 in the yard, I stare at the back of lots of different vehicles, how many 40 year old volvos do you see on the road?
green new deal might not happen, but without turning this into a political, the party in charge right now would be the ones to do it, and the unknowing is the issue, I wouldn’t go blow 50k on another truck between purchase/rebuild just to have it outlawed in a few years,
also since you mentioned local, make sure you have atleast a small bunk, it’s easier to park every night then get half way through a payment book or dump all the cash into a rebuild to get into a pissing match with where ever you get your loads From in 6 months and have a useless truck -
You’d probably see some if they built them back then. How many forty year old cars or trucks do you see on the road? I rarely ever see any.
-
Yeah, I know of mine at 30, and a customers at 32. Definitely no 40 year old.
I guess we'll see what happens, but I won't be moving into a newer truck. -
as much as math like this kills me because I’m getting old, 2021 minus early, 198x is 35+ years…..
Go forward still and tell me when the last time you saw an autocar abortion in the mid/late 90s compared to a 379/flat glass kw?Last edited: Aug 14, 2021

What’s going on?
climate change is happening, the earths climate is not static, it is always changing. There are cycles within cycles and we are heading into a warming of the earth that happens every 1000 years. Read about what happen 1000ad to see the evidence, it led to a huge population increase which led to a huge amount of population reduction a few hundred years later through plagues.
man can’t change the climate, we can damage it to a small degree, but unless we blow holes into the atmosphere with nukes, we can’t damage it as claimed. The truth is we are not making the earth warm, the earth is.
these crazies and nut cases are not getting it. If the earth warms then the water content of the atmosphere increases as the co2 increases, then so does vegetation and what does vegetation mean, capturing co2.
My middle kid and I met one of the tv weatherman a few months ago, it was a chance meeting, he is on the local channel here as a climate expert. Pretty smart guy and he explained why we are getting a lot of rain and weird weather. I suggested he make an YouTube video of that and he looked at me with such a serious look and said “I could not ever do that, I would lose my job the second it is posted”, going on explaining that the narrative is man made climate change only.Midwest Trucker, Big Road Skateboard and abyliks Thank this. -
1000 years ago oil wasn't being pulled from the ground.
Holes in the atmosphere are already there.
According to a class I attended almost 30 years ago. A lot of the things we used in the past have a survival rate of 100 years. Eating at the ozone.
40 year old cars.
I have bfast with 20 Studebakers every month. How about all the car shows every weekend. Even model T's are still driving around.Last edited: Aug 15, 2021

Comparing a P/U and trailer to a semi, is no where near the same, so? Yea I’d advise driving for a company for a while before spend money on a rig
-
I have a considerable amount of time in a 379 and more time in a dm685, I'm no stranger in or under these trucks. Learning the difference in how a trailer backs with longer length and different axle placement was short and painless. I still plan on buying an older rig to start restoring while I drive for someone else, if it doesn't work out it becomes a personal toy hauler or a dump truck.crzyjarmans Thanks this.
