    I don't think I'd leave the job you have now. The good ole days of trucking are over. It's not as fun and not near as much money out here anymore.

    @Blues Junkie
    Good advice but i would do it parttime seeing you have so much free time.
    Or if you really wanted to ,you do a parttime trucking job ,on saterdays and your vacation time.
    You have lots off options but i would NOT quit your current job.

    If ya got good retirement and can you transfer to different gig in the county? Are you ready to literally spend 24/7/365 with your wife in a 5×7 closet with bunkbeds

    AND you will learn things about each other.

    Or kill each other. We actually had endured a domestic once near St Louis. A detective saw the arm waving more than actual driving in rush hour. Pulled us over to sit and listen to us tell him what for. =) He did a great thing that day.

    You would think we don't fight. We know how to fight and be done with it before the sun goes down. Tomorrow is a new day. But when you two cats are tied together in a little carrier you both will want out.

    If I have as much free time as you say you and your wife have, I would get a secound job working most of those days that you have off. At least for awhile, to learn for yourself if you do indeed enjoy working that much.

    My wife has no free time. She works for Kroger as a night Forman and they work her like a dog and treat her like crap. Hey Trucking will be right up her alley. LOL

    This might help with that situation for her.
    People will treat you with the level of disrespect YOU tolerate.
    Personally, I tolerate none, and stop them in mid-sentence to correct their obvious miscalculation.

    "Oh, you thought it was alright to disrespect me verbally in that way? You are on notice that it is not."

    Self driving trucks are years away... I crack myself up. :)

    If you're a good wrench you should be somewhere that provides a pension. Talk to your wife. Are you BOTH excited about the possibilities of going team? What kind of conversations do you have with her? As a former wrench, I say go for it. You're hireable if things don't work out.
