What procedure should be followed if multiple, compatible ELDs are used to record a driver's RODS?

Wouldn't it be easier to just install an ELD in every driver's brain?

You're assuming every driver has a brain. If they do, they don't always use it. [/sarcasm]
This appears to be there to discourage allowing a variety of different ELD's within a motor carrier, especially if that carrier slip seats. For an O/O contracted to a carrier, you're probably not operating equipment other than your own, but for a company driver it may be problematic changing trucks IF you can't simply "log in" and your info pops up on the device.
The law of unintended consequences is going to rear its ugly head. Sad thing is, people are going to turn to the same fools who created the mess to come up with the solution.UsualSuspect and barnmonkey Thank this. -

Some companies are installing driver and road facing cameras in the trucks. I say why not install a forehead camera on the driver's head so it records everything the driver sees, sorta like a forehead/dashcam kill two birds with one stone.

No one is installing &^%$ into me head. Nope.
Im glad I got out before the ELDs took hold. But it was one of the things spouse and I talked about as far as what limits of survillence would we accept or endure in the industry? There are limits that we wont allow in the truck. Example inward cameras. There is just no way.
Now for every one of me who walked away from work on the big road there has to be 50 young ones who do not have a brain ready to take my spot.poppapump1332 Thanks this. -

Naw with all the crying and complaining about something that takes 10 to 20 minutes to learn and 3 minutes to use, the next step will be driverless trucks to get rid of the complaints.
