im sure its been posted but i dont want to search threw 6 pages. if you go on companies websites, they will tell you their felony policy, some say 5 years, some 10 years some you can never get a job with them. find a company that fits your criteria then call them and talk to a recruiter and be 100% honest. you'll find a job dont worry.
i was told by a Werner recruiter (that visited my school for a presentation) that Werner had a lifetime ban on felonies.....now, if this has changed since that visit, i do not know....someone else can chime in and respond to Werner's felony policy as it is today....
careersingears or any of the trucking job websites, most of them have a break down of requirements, experience needed, DUI's, felonies, driving record etc. i contacted werner and got a joke of an email back, i'll never try to work there. i think roehl is the company i'm going to go with, their school is only 2800$ or if you stay there for 120k its forgiven.
First off, saying that there are job that wont run background don't mean none do, means some don't. you can get hazmat and twic with a record, it depends whether its a disqualifier or not.
Where there are no jobs ,companys are really picky. I know a guy who has a Misdemeanor but wasn't fined and never served a minute in jail. He has been honest and never gets a call back . All positions he has applied to is stuff he has years exp in. So i think Misdemeanors can hold you back also. Other than that no tickets blah blah. The jobs are low paying $10hr or so,so is being honest causeing him jobs or what?
Rerun you remind me of my dad he tells it like it is ,most don't like it but tough truth is better than sweet lies!
The thing I like about this forum is that people can post a question and eventually people who have actualy had experience in that area will give them some advice or words of encouragement. Also appreciated is the forum member who hasn't personally "been there" but still offers words of encouragement or positive advice. As a trucker who had to drop my trailer before bogtailing to the Federal prison to visit a loved one, I can tell you that yes there are companys out there who will hire you as long as you are past the years since the conviction established by their insurance company. Some of us of the older generation know that but for the grace of God there go I. And yes the Federal prisoner I use to visit was eventually hired by a trucking company 5 years after his conviction. Good luck to you.
