    *climbs out of hole*
Hey everybody! I've been lost in the Midwest for weeks my internet doesn't work out that way lolol. I didn't quit wouldn't even consider it, I did however quit running for tractor supply full time I run for the part time now in between running tire loads for Goodyear.

So lets catch you guys up first Jarhead had to return his truck because of some law or rule in Kentucky. He is still an IC he got an 06 International.

TENNMAN!!??? Is that a new truck in your avi?????

As far as running dedicated they sent in company trucks because they couldn't control when we took vacations and if we would decide to run other freight the rep i talked to said IC's did good work the account but the higher ups wanted more control over the scheduling. I didn't want them managing me so I opted to run the left over loads i like. I stopped running full time about a month ago and went exploring that landed me in Laredo, what a experience.

I get down to Laredo and my customer speaks zero English, I ended up back at the OC to get a bracket welded on a trailer and a inspection sheet took my four total hours for that DROP. Getting out was even more fun I had a string of cancellations and rescheduling three days in a row. Took me 10 days and zig zag from east to west tp finally get back home and on the last day 200 miles from home I have a SDR failure.

The KW was a trooper and dragged my trailer east of Pittsburgh to Carlisle under 70% power. Only When i arrived in carlisle did it go into shut down mode. KW checked it out found some dirt in the Doser unit or something like that cleaned everything up and sent me on my way took 8 days off after that.

This is my 5th day back out apparently i forgot about HOS when booking loads because I've almost run myself out of hours i had to pull a load to make it to my recaps. Traffic played a good part in things too, I've lost at least 5 hours to random WEEKEND TRAFFIC JAMS.. WTF..

I'm considering trying the west again next week just not for 3 weeks the missus don't like that one bit. One thing i Learned about the Midwest is finding loads requires more load board sniping, out east i usually can roll out of bed and find 10 loads i like anytime of the day.
    .
I had some other stuff I wanted to tell you guys But you aint gonna believe this.. I forgot.. I'll return later if i remember gotta truck down to fayetteville NC then heading back to PA for delivery and a Tractor Supply Load.

Oh I signed up for NASTC a couple weeks ago. Their fuel discounts are good on the weeks when Sni's is under 25 cent. I saved 62 cent a gallon one day last week. Catch you all later.

I've signed off on the northeast guys. You all can have it Burlington NJ is pretty much my northern cut off. I had enough of the hills, traffic and high fuel costs. Looking at my numbers it cost my closer to a dollar hauling up that way running a blend of mid Atlantic and south and TSC Dedicated drops my cost to about .80 something cent a mile.

Don't see how he is failing at it... he just said looking at how much it costs him per mile to run the Northeast (fuel, tolls, maintenance, etc) it's not worth it when he can run other freight and it costs him less per mile. He's not saying he's running for .80 CPM, his costs are simply .80 CPM. Not sure what all is factored into those costs, I'd assume stuff like truck payment, etc., is left out.

@ew do whatever makes you money and you're happy with. If you can find a niche that you're happy with, go for it.

With the lease truck my total costs were around 1.03 per mile.

The only way I can lower my cpm is to drive more miles to lower fixed costs cpm.

or less miles at a higher rate

all depends on how you want to run.
last two weeks I've averaged about 2100 miles and $4700 in revenue per week

Got lucky with a couple loads though.
