The good ole northeast..Great cities.. great people and *record scratches* no scratch that im starting this on a good note and a BOLD FACE LIE IT ALL SUCKS. NEEEEEVVVVVEEEERRRR AGAIN WILL I TAKE A LOAD GOING through york never never never never never. Most stressful week no no 4 days of my life.

Lets go back to the beginning you guys remember C&S well they sent me back to get a empty there
My preplan was great i was going to run early morning to beat traffic in va and ny, but wait C&S says wait we will give you a empty but you have to wait til later to be sure we dont need it EVEN THOUGH WE TOLD YOU SUNDAY THAT YOU COULD JUST PICK IT UP WHEN YOU COME BACK.
So 2.5 hours down the drain i should've been near Richmond but i'm still in york frickin pa. Traffic down 83, traffic on 695, traffic on 95 south, im now 4.5 hours behind where i planned to be. Anyway get to va hook and book and shut down at doswell truck stop around 630.
Get up the next morning and its gridlock for 50 friggin miles FIFTY MILES GUYS THATS LIKE A WHOLE BUNCH all the way from doswell to 495 i wanted to park the truck and go home. Get through all that im about 6 hours behind plan this load is due tonight i have 8 hours to drive and 9 hours to destination according to jill.

Get through jersey and take my thirty right before the bridge.
Get on the highway first thing i hear on the cb "its bout a 7 mile backup stay away from the bridge" im yelling all kinds of stuff as i divebomb across 4 lanes for the last exit before the bridge. At this point im sweating and my stress is up because jill wont reroute me TO ANYWHERE BUT BACK ON TO THE DANG GWB and google maps wants me to take restricted routes through the johnsons back yard. . I pull out my atlas and find a route i think will work. Start heading up the road and bam 13'2 bridge i yell more obscenities and get out of the truck to breath for a minute. I make a turn and end up on a road that leads me to the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY AND A BIG OLE NO TRUCK SIGN. I yell more obscenities and pull off into a holiday inn lot.

I plan out a route using US 17 to i think I 287 works out now i have to jaaaaaammm the entire way to new hampshire 95 is crawling with traffic and every other highway i used the must've know i was in a rush.
Hours later 32 minutes left drive time 37 minutes to destination im still jamming and i get stuck on a one lane road behind a propane canister truck he is doin 35 in a 55. I yell out the window at him like he can hear me. So i end up running out of time 2 MILES FROM THE RECEIVER i park behind some market for my ten. WAKE UP THE NEXT MORNING ONLY TO REALIZE I STILL HAD ANOTHER 24 HOURS TO DROP THAT TRAILER.
I lost my 3 rd preplanned load and my 2nd load picked up 6 hours late, I get to CVS rhode island 12 hours late the are technically closed and not receiving buuuuuuuut the security guard doesn't know any better and lets me in so i drop hook my empty and book out of there for kearny NJ.
So coming back today i actually have to drive THROUGH new york instead of going around it. Coming down 95 i'm seeing all kinds of 12'6 signs 12'10 and everything so im randomly slamming on the brakes because i down want to hit bridges. What idiot forget to mark that it was just the shoulders that are low. All the way through new york im sweating my tail off because im terrified im gonna make a mistake take a wrong turn and be the idiot with a convertible trailer.
So i get through there pick up my relay at the jersey drop lot. And the sky opens up and now my truck is stuck in the dang mud. Uggghh i just cant deal with this bullshat.... Rant over ...

I said all that to say what y'all already know stay far far FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM NEW YORK. I'll run jersey and pa but im not sure ill go further north than pa anymore unless its the weekend or im running overnight . I'm headed to Bridgewater tomorrow then i don't know where i haven't committed to anything yet.

I don't understand this, why would you WANT to go to NJ, but avoid going further north? New Jersey and New York CITY are the worst parts, I plan on avoiding them like the plague when i go IC. You can go north of PA all you want. Keeping in mind that New York is a huge state, upstate New York is a breeze, Maine (my home state) is fairly easy, Mass sucks but you get used to it, South CT sucks (91 and 95), but as much as people complain about it, 84 through central CT isn't bad once you get used to it and as long as you don't go through Hartford at rush hour, etc.
Just stay away from NJ, and that section of 95 (there are ways around it), the rest of the northeast is not as bad as people make it out to be.

Yeah, speaking from experience, taking random roads in NJ will almost certainly bring you to an area that is not truck friendly. Schneiders wonderful load planner has sent me on many many wonderful Nestle water loads right into the center of NJ even though I repeatedly asked him not to lol

Jill has her reasons, she's doesn't want you to hit a low bridge, or she just wants to get the hell out of there haha

Some of us drive the vampire shift for a reason!

Wait! ... What? ... your from Baltimore and been driving for 4 years and you've never crossed the GW before? Hell I've sat in a 4 hour backup crossing the GW and it was 3am when I hit the backup. I didn't make it to the Lombardi till 7am. Welcome to NYC, expect the worse, always! Then if you get lucky your way ahead of the game.

Born and raised in Queens, I will always love NYC, but I will never like driving in it.
