Here is the deal, I have a spotless background and driving record. No drug use EVER, clean cut and shaven, no face piercings or mutilations, no medical issues, I drove OTR about 10 years ago, I recently went through a refresher passed driving test with a 90 downshifting a bit rusty. I have Reliable work history and it seems if I don't have any driving experience in the last 3 years I am expected to go with a driver mill company like Schneider or Werner again for experience to get a local driving job, Bull%(*&. Ok Rant off.![]()

Not only that..
being you don't have recent experience you'll be made to go out with a trainer again.. probably with this guy http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-here/39618-werner-trainer-craps-himself.html

Montgomery, skellr and baha Thank this. -
Hahahahahahaha That was a hilarious post I had tears in my eyes, I am pro Hygiene so you see my concern, I would call the company and let them know I just dropped off their trainer at the local TA and I am on my way back to the terminal. I needed the laugh, back to filling out job applications I don't qualify for hahahahah.

Trucking is an idiotic industry.
But you may get lucky and get a ride with someone. -
So basically what you guys are saying is that a brand new PeterBilt of my choosing, pick of loads, works hours and ammount of pay I get will probably not happen?
Big Don Thanks this. -
The insurance companies set the guidelines for hiring these days, Most of the mega fleets are self insured and can take more risks.
skellr and Rooster903 Thank this. -
Even worse - they'll stick you with a kid that's been driving for 6 months and call him/her your TRAINER.
Shaggy, "semi" retired, MJ1657 and 2 others Thank this. -
Hey Rooster, I'm in the same boat. I drove for 35 years, 2.5 million safe miles, have some impressive references, and I fear, I'd have to do the same thing. I'd probably do the refresher course, but if they wanted to stick me with a trainer, I'd tell them to cram it with walnuts. It's a down right shame, one should have to prove themselves, with a record like mine, (or yours) it's their loss, if they don't hire us older drivers, that were trucking when these recruiters were in diapers. That's just the way the industry went, like it or not.
HotH2o, blairandgretchen, poppapump1332 and 3 others Thank this. -
I am NO WAY near what you have in experience and you have certainly got much more of a reason to bark at these requirements than I do, it would be and is re-donkulous to put someone with your experience through all this. It just amazes me to see some of these drivers down here in South Central Texas, half can barely speak English.
