My Poor Experience Working at Gemini Motor Transportation
Class A Fuel Tanker Driver
Williamsville, IL
I joined Gemini Motor Transportation with hopes of building a stable career, but my experience left me disappointed across several areas. After the original president passed, I met the new President at a company event. Despite the motivational tone of the gathering, the emphasis felt forced. When I expressed time constraints, I was met with visible frustration, which set the tone for much of my experience going forward.
Management and Communication Issues:
Communication was inconsistent and often unclear. Policy changes were made without proper notice or explanation. Managers were frequently unresponsive and unsupportive, leaving employees to figure things out on their own. Micromanagement was a daily stressor — surveillance cameras, including inward-facing ones, were constantly monitoring, even during short rest breaks. Favoritism also played a major role in daily operations, and it was obvious that some employees were given leniency while others were held to a different standard.
Work-Life Balance:
The company emphasized short shifts, but they often added up to six days a week. Scheduling was unpredictable, with last-minute changes and requests to work on scheduled days off. This made it difficult to rest, plan personal time, or manage family responsibilities.
Pay and Benefits:
The compensation didn’t align with what was initially promised. Bonus opportunities were unreliable and sometimes withheld for reasons outside of employees’ control. The medical insurance may look affordable on the surface, but it came with a high deductible — meaning most employees had to pay thousands out of pocket before any real benefits kicked in.
Resources and Equipment:
Maintenance was a constant issue. Employees were expected to repair equipment during shifts, and some managers discouraged reporting mechanical problems. This impacted safety and added stress to an already difficult job.
Workplace Culture and Advancement:
Opportunities for advancement seemed to depend more on personal connections than performance. Constructive feedback was rare — instead, mistakes were often met with immediate consequences. There was a general sense of job insecurity, with little recognition or appreciation for hard work. The work environment felt toxic, with high stress, high turnover, and little support.
Training and Safety:
New hires received minimal training, which led to confusion and errors. Safety concerns were often brushed aside in favor of keeping up with deadlines, which created unnecessary risks on the job.
In short, my experience at Gemini Motor Transportation was discouraging. Leadership felt disconnected from the day-to-day challenges drivers face, and feedback — whether directed to HR or upper management — often went unanswered. I hope the company makes meaningful changes, especially in how it supports and values its workforce. If I would have know these situations I would have never applied here.

Dispatch is rotated out with new all the time making working well with common loads and routes difficult and management does not advocate for the drivers they're almost treated with distain as if they're an irritating part of the company. You are just a mule pulling the corporate wagon.
Pros
Pay is decent but with inflation is stagnant.
Cons
Management is far removed from the drivers unless they want something from you and management retaliation is common.
