Day one of orientation is done. Today was the usual paperwork, drug test, and physical. The physical also consisted of an agility test in which you were required to pick up a wooden box w/ weights in it and carry it, climb in and out of a truck, bend over and touch your toes, etc. As well as the road test. Trucks are nice, mostly Freightliner Cascadias. For the most part their trucks are 2010 & newer, they do have a few 09's left. They just gained a bunch of new contracts, so they're hiring like crazy. So far everyone I've come in contact with has been very professional, and friendly. Their trucks have APU's, and they will allow inverters as long as you have their shop install it. Probably will get my truck assignment tomorrow, and will have the shop install my inverter and CB. Orientation is 3 days & is unpaid. I'll post more after orientation tomorrow.

Made it thru the weekend. Delivered Monday in Denver. Went to our drop yard in Denver and picked up a load to Toeele,UT (west of Salt Lake), delivered yesterday afternoon and have been sitting since waiting for a load. I've been having issues w/ my APU not blowing cool air & my qualcomm will receive messages, but they aren't getting messages from me. Have expressed to them that I would like to get these issues addressed, but so far they don't seem concerned about either one of them. Also keep in mind that your first check will be mailed home. Your second check will be direct deposited to either your bank or Comdata card, so make sure you have enough money to last. The other thing they don't tell you during the recruiting process is that you have to buy your first two loadlocks from them at $50.00 a piece. (You can make payments via payroll deductions). Good luck trying to talk w/ someone via phone (esp. on weekends and nights) if your qualcomm goes down. You won't reach a live person (I know my qualcomm doesn't send them messages) so I've had to call them. Even during the day my calls go to my fleet manager's voicemail. Jet a few things to keep in mind.

Henderson will pay your way to orientation and put you up in a hotel. Make sure to take at least 10 years worth of employment history w/ you. As you will have to fill out an actual app during orientation (they're required by DOT to have an actual app w/ your real signature on it.) As far as I know they run your DAC, criminal history, etc before you get to orientation. Just make sure you have enough money to get you thru til direct deposit kicks in since your 1st check is mailed to your house. Also be prepared to sign up for payroll deduction to pay for your loadlocks (2 @ $50 each), ratchet style load strap (1 @ $12), glad hand lock (1 @ $34.99), 1 air cuff lock ($60 +/-). You will get reimbursed when you quit if they're returned. As for me, I'm still sitting at home. Been here since Friday am. Have tried to get ahold of dispatch to find out why I'm still sitting w/ no luck. As they don't believe in answering the phone. They don't get my qc msgs so phone is the only way I have to reach them. I was actually offered a job yesterday driving locally. $18/ hour to start, 40+ hrs/week..

Well good luck to anyone who drives for E.L. HENDERSON !! Me and my husband drove for them and the pay and miles are great but be careful they will make you haul loads that are over weight and if you get a ticket your responsible for it . They push teams to the extreme and want them to run 24hrs a day ! They have a fleet manager there who starts calling you and yelling if you stop to eat, s### or shower. They drove us so hard I ended up in the hospital with pneumonia ! And if you want to go home for time off it's a month before they can get a load going close to your city !!!!!!
