It used to be great but they are hiring new people and the are settling for less than 2$ a mile some even 1.25 a mile. Canceled loads for less than .75 cents dry pay. The only ones making money is FedEx. Everyone else is slaving!!!

Pros

None

Cons

To many to name

Knowing that many reviews said waiting on freight is real. Well, if you like waiting at trucking stops, and don’t blame Covid. I suspect the turnover is very high. FEDEx does not share “their” freight with O/O, you sit and wait on Load Board while they run run run

Pros

WAITING. you will sit DAYS. Not a lie.

Cons

WAITING sucks 2 plus days. Excuse is that they wait for premium freight. Believe NOT

Dispatch gives all the good loads to the fleet owners. if u have 1 truck u will starve to death. were a team that has been there almost 9 yrs we are leaving. our pay last week was 440 this week 593. can't pay Bill's on that pay.for the yr was less than 101k going down since they put in the load board. guess u have to pay someone up there to give u a load. They make it sound good in the beginning then it goes down hill.

Pros

If you like setting alot between loads then this is the job for you. If you have multiple trucks then this is for you.

Cons

Have to have more than 1 truck to make it here.

I have been an owner operator for FEDEX Custom Critical for 19 years. In the last 10 years they have gone downhill!! Dispatchers are just computer operators, they have almost no knowledge of over the road experiences. Unless U like or sit @ various truck stops stay away!! The only good thing I can say is they do pay fairly competitively, but even that has deteriorated over the last few years. Zero pay for deadheading back to a reasonable location if U happen to take a load out west. Management hasn’t a clue as to what is going on with owner operators & really I don’t think they care anymore. Company has morphed into a freight broker & they give freight to competitors on a regular basis!!

Pros

Pay is only decent thing I can say about them.

Cons

Too many to name, read above review!!

Any Owner-Ops at Fedex Custom Critical here?

Q: I've applied here, Universal Truckload Services, and Crete Carrier. I'll be buying my own truck and becoming an owner-op. Trying to find out more about FedEx Custom Critical. All I know at this point is it's $1.50/mi loaded and $1.00/mi empty + $0.20/mi Fuel Surcharge. All 48 States + Canada & Mexico.

Are there any other owner-ops here, that can tell me more about their job? Is there usually enough freight to do 3,000/mi or more per wk? Any other info you think I should know going in, would be appreciated, whether it's Pros or Cons. Thanks

A: Well numbers are a little high you have their...

We have an avg about 550 miles loaded, 250 miles empty per load... we are a team..

Last week 1598 miles loaded, 3,798 truck revenue...

FedEx custom critical is definitely not the place to make a lot of money.. the first warning sign is they have a lot of driver relations people.. if the drivers were happy why would they need any?

Also look at the turn-over rate, each orientation is about 30-60 people, twice a week...

They pit all costs onto the driver (if your late they fine you 25% of the rate).. if you ever chose to leave, would cost you (removal of qualcomm, graphics, repaying the sign on if you leave within the first year) ect ect..

You would be better off signing on with landstar, or Schneider

Fedex Custom Critical...worth while or waste of money?

Fedex Custom Critical...worth while or waste of money?

Q: Hey ya'll. My wife and I are driving with Schneider on a pretty nice dedicated account. We have been driving for a few months now. 5500 miles per week, every week at .36/mile. We loooove driving, and want to look at O/O and ultimately a small fleet. I have been looking at FedEx Custom Critical. I like the idea of a straight truck and expediting. Maybe putting a team in there eventually and so on and so forth. What I really want to know is what people are getting for miles right now? I am based in Fort Worth, with the FedEx terminal just north of me. What's the work like?

A: They put all of their contractors on a low flat set rate per mile not long ago. So basically have reduced their expediting time critical services to the lowest common denominator looking for wheel holders happy to turn big miles. While they rake big bucks off the top. Not to mention expediting is not really a segment where you turn a lot of miles anyways. But I suppose big companies are trying to change that so it pays nothing like most any other freight. There are consequences for turning down loads. I would look elsewhere. Really not such a good company the smart operators who used to make great money there have all left for better opportunities.
