One of the best dry van outfits out here. Equipment and shop are top notch. They mainly operate Freightliner's and T680's, but have a few 579's and Volvo's. Both automatic and manual. Trucks get serviced every 8,000 miles and trailers every 2 months. Fantastic people in the office and a great customer base with lots of drop and hook freight. You're kept preplanned 99% of the time. The other 1% I've never waited more than an hour for my next load. They have OTR, Midwest, and Southwest regional (mostly between NE and TX). I'm on their Southwest Regional fleet and get home every weekend with good pay. Very achievable bonuses if you know how to do your job and aren't lazy.

Pros

The best maintenance program I've ever seen. Dispatchers and other office staff that will bend over backwards for you. Never a number at this company and I haven't met someone in the office who wasn't ready to help. Responsive breakdown department, clean and modern terminals, the list goes on.

Cons

Their pet and rider policy for company drivers leaves a little to be desired, but it's better than nothing at all.

31 years of driving, and this is THE place to work. Sincere co-workers, compensated well, I have been there about 5 months and had some issues with my truck, next thing I’m in a new truck.

Pros

Affordable decent health insurance. Lots of miles (at least 3000 a week). Great shop.

The equipment is well maintained, mostly mid roof freighters, but some Volvos and international. They have 3 fleets, Midwest regional, Southwest regional, and the long haul fleet. Most guys on regional fleets get home every week. I run the long haul fleet, and must stay out a minimum of three weeks. Great customer base with a lot of drop and hooks.

Pros

Mid sized company, no micro management. Average 3146 miles a week.

Any thing on Fremont Contract Carriers?

They don't run under MHF name also. They don't do warehousing stuff. You have them confused with some other outfit. I have been with FCC for over 8.5 years. They are based out of Fremont, NE. They area rock solid outfit to work with. Great customer base that treats drivers pretty good. Most drivers are home weekly. I am home every weekend and holiday, and usually by the house a couple of times a week. Not on any dedicated run either. I sure am not going anywhere. I have done extremely well here.

Fremont Contract Carriers

I have been with these folks just shy of 7 years. Been a good experience over that time. A carrier that really watches out for it's people. In the last couple of months, some hiccups have occurred, and this is how FCC take care of things....

Sat for 15 hrs at Kellogg's in Battle Creek, MI waiting to unload 2 months ago. Got $586 in detention.

Sat for 24 hrs a week later at Sturm Foods in Manawa, WI for 24 hrs on a load that was rejected by Sturm, and Conagra could not make a determination on what to do with the load. Finally took it back after sitting 24 hrs waiting on their decision. Got $836 in detention.

Had a F-150 hit a RV that had just passed me, glanced off and tore up the front of my truck. Pickup rolled in ditch, driver critical. Before I had gotten done with KHP on accident writeup, FCC has already notified Northland about situation and started paperwork for my truck (I own it) to be repaired and calculations started on what my average revenue is per day and use that as a measure of how much compensation to me while the truck is down being repaired. Truck was still drivable, so I took a load back up to Fremont to turn in paperwork from accident. Owner of FCC, Mike Herre, was there to meet me and make sure I was ok and make sure that everyone was processing things to make this as easy as possible. We went out and he took a look at the truck.

This is just a snapshot of the overall experience at FCC the last 7 years. Sure, there have been times where I wanted to strangle someone. It is trucking, and dealing with people. People make mistakes. But that is not the nature of this carrier. They have a great customer base that really is great to work with, they watch out for their people, both company and O/O. I would recommend anyone who is in the market for a switch to consider these folks. Dry van and flatbed operation.
