Another company that lies to you before you're even hired. Another company that insults your intelligence. You'll never make "80 to 90k a year" with a company that tops at 56 cents a mile period!

Wasn't just a job, they were family. ...do to only a few office hires, the company is on fire and sinking. I'm no longer there, as are many, many others. Safe travels my friends...

Pros

Dispatch, Shop, customers...

Cons

There's were hardly a con, after a rough period, the ship was more then sea worthy. New owners hired some staff that didn't have qualifications for the positions they're occupying .ship is on fire and sinking.

Top notch equipment and personnel. They do not treat drivers like just another number. Their shop is great and the trailer shop was a first for me. I never worked for a company that took great care of the trailers until Transport. I made serious money with them. They had the freight to keep me rolling. The safety department wasn't someone you had to fight with. That is another first. If you want to move 10,000 miles plus a month, and be treated well, give them a call.

Pros

Dispatchers don't lie, Nice point to point freight, Miles!, Friendly atmosphere, good equipment.

Cons

They are located in Minnesota. It gets cold there. Absolutely biting your hind end off cold. That's all the cons I can think of.

If I had posted about this company, my trucking home for many years, 5 years ago the post would have read "C'mon in the waters fine!". I feel a responsibility to report the ruin of the greatest company I've ever worked for. The general attitude of the compant toward the drivers has slipped from outstanding to barely tolerable. They have become "Just another company" except with subpar pay and benefits. If you are looking for a job do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. If you want specifics post questions and I'll try to answer them as time permits.

Went to work for these guys 08/2006 left 08/2008 with 2 mos. notice that I would be leaving when I got another job,Because I live 180 miles from the Salt Lake City yard where I picked up my truck when I started work for them.I got to drive the truck home M T for all that time till they changed to I had to go home under a load,So that gave me 1 to 1.5 days off after being out for 4 to 6 weeks.Any way I dropped off the truck at the Salt Lake City yard and went to work for a small company 30 miles from my home,I got laid off 02/2009 and have been looking.I just found out that Transport Designs out of Savage,Mn. has me down for Abanded my truck which is a lie,But like most all Companies the Driver is in the wrong.Any one have any ideas on what to do without having to get a Lawyer And by the way dont work here unless you enjoy gettin messed with.

I used to work for Transport Designs, Inc, a company based in Savage, Minnesota. On April 14, 2010, I was terminated at 4:00 pm, because I was not "making enough revenue for the company." I was stranded in Minneapolis, over 1660 miles from where I was hired, (and used to call home). I asked the company to make this a "warning" but the Operations Manager (Andy Powers) said that he was "not running a charity" and this decision had already been made before I arrived back at their yard.

They cited the fact that on Valentine's Day the company had to bring a replacement truck to me in Rawlins, WY because the transmission died (for the second time in a year). The replacement truck they brought had to be repaired before I drove it because the power steering reservoir broke while it was being towed out to me. This same replacement truck (a used Freightliner with over 450,000 miles on it) went through 12 gallons of oil in the first month I had it, and the company had to spend over $10,000 for the engine to be rebuilt. According to the mechanics at the Detroit Diesel shop, there was NO possible way that the engine problems could be traced back to my driving of the truck in the short time I had it.

How in the world can a driver be held responsible for lost revenue in a company-owned and -maintained truck?

Be aware that if you want to work for them, and do not drive their "suggested" 10,000 miles per month (for whatever reason), you may be let go with no notice!

I worked for them back in 2004-05 & had the same issues. There maintenance is horrible! Every truck I drove for them I had a major break down. I spent 8 days in LA Freightliner because of their truck! I had the A/C go out in Las Vegas NV in July & I'm told to roll the windows down and drive to Corona Ca. The temp was 117 degrees!! With the same truck it had major overheating issues & I spent time in detroit diesel in boise I'd, salt lake city as well as Freightliner in salt lake city! The co owner Leonard Korbel told me that they were "letting you go because you are breaking down too much!! I was driving company truck!! I would stay away from them because they believe its the company drivers responsibility to fix the trucks!! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!

Well .. a update, kinda, lol. Been with Transport Design Inc going on 6 mos now.. only thing I can say for sure, as long as your truck doesnt go down they have the miles to keep you going and happy. BUT thats the main PROBLEM.. All their Trucks are over 7 yrs and with over 8ooK on them..THEY KEEP BREAKIN DOWN!!! and you are left sitting around for 2, 3 days waiting on repairs. With little or no breakdown pay. Hell for that matter No real benefits IE: Holiday pay, dental, decent health ins..etc.. Last I checked NO PLANS for replacement trucks. As for me Im now looking for a new carrier till then.. I pray my truck keeps moving forward.

The best thing any driver could do is stay away from this company!!!...you will spend more time in the shop than moving..I guarantee it!!! Their equipment is absolute junk beyond anything imaginable..

The co-owner L________ raises seven kinds of heck when he had to pay any repair bill..he will do anything to avoid paying repair bills..
