They will set you up to go south , promising you good rates coming back. Once you there they will give you a load going norh east cheaper than goin west. They will tell you it’s only 15000 lbs. it’s 44000 Stay away They should work for you , in stead they will just use you

Pros

You are your own boss

Cons

Rates are not favorable, and they care only about them 30%. You personally can go some one else will come

this company is very unprofessional they gave us a load that was heavier than what was indicated on the rate con and when we demanded extra rate on the weight they insisted we left the shipper without signed documnets which we didnt and they deducted us $300 even after providing all the documents .All carriers should avoid this broker as they are suspect to double brokering !!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE AVOID

Leased on as. A new owner operator. For BJW Agent. Things were okay in the beginning then when threatened to leave that’s when they started screwing with your settlements and money. They do not care about their owner ops. They only care about shoving money into their pocket. 30% is their cut. Don’t know how a company that’s been around for over 100 years is still in business on spot market freight. The pay is less than a company driver at a mega carrier. How can you terminate someone’s lease at the beginning of the month when I’ve been running freight all month long. Pretty sure you can’t back date lease cancellations. If you work here. BEWARE cause the 5 day notice you give they’ll just screw you over. This company needs investigated by the FMCSA and shut down. Will be consulting lawyers on taking legal action against this company and their agent.

Pros

None at all

Cons

Shady business. Scam. Do not work here.

WORST COMPANY EVER, requires LG + PJ on truck, he said that means inside delivery 3rd floor, literally comedy, and they did not pay driver assistance for that...

Owner operator they let me do whatever I want and go wherever I wanted and take off when I wanted. Ran hard just to barely clear 4500 in one week I avg about 3500. Broker would help me out by taking less of a cut sometimes to help me out.

Pros

Treated good Huge fuel savings Cheap insurance

Cons

Not enough stable freight was all over the place

been with west since 2001 and i am sorry to say that it's time to move on after looking over their new lease for 2014. i can say they were once a great company to lease to but not anymore.

for one they are going to charge 12.00 a week to do your ifta which they never did.the 2014 lease will be for one year only, and then they will have the option to change the lease on a month by month basis.startin in 2014 you will have only 60 days from invoice date to contest a freight charge. workers comp is going to be an issue.acc.charges have always been an issue with me,when you unload a trailer at customer they get 25% of fee,you do the work and they get a cut.there was an ad in movin out mag where it stated extra pay for w/e work, when i asked about it(as i work weekends) their response was that was untrue.i'm still waiting for detention on a load from 4 months ago.they used to pay a lil extra if you deadheaded more than 100 miles, not anymore.this is supposed to be a non forced dispatch company but if you turn down to many loads they will not dispatch you.when it came to loads to haul they used to offer you from a list of what they had,not anymore they just tell you your next load.i could go on an on

Orientation at West was fantastic. I arrived at 9:00am at the West Terminal. At that time I was warmly greeted by Cheryl and we started doing the paperwork. The whole atmosphere was very laid back and everyone was very friendly. I then went and took the road test which I passed. After the road test there was a little more paperwork, then, Cheryl took me on a tour and to meet my dispatcher. I was assigned a truck and on my way back to the house at 12:00 pm. The most impressive thing is that Cheryl really cares. She asked me to stay in touch to make sure everything I was promised is being delivered on. The other thing I like is the small company family feel. They only hire what they need, unlike the Mega's that just hire and hire and hire. I will keep everyone posted.
