If you like: - Not having your calls answered - Meeting tow truck drivers every other week - Staying in hotels more than driving - Dealing with a shop that couldn't care less if your truck takes 6 months to get fixed - Hopping in more trucks than a lot lizard on Friday night Then Poly Trucking is the company for you!
90% of Davis Express' freight is Publix store loads. The remainder is various chicken plants, but mostly Tyson. Davis Express does not want professional drivers. They want a steering wheel holder that cannot think. They will micromanage every aspect of your day. You literally don't start your clock unless the Qualcomm tells you to. Most of the time you'll do your breaks sitting behind a Publix store or at some stinking, dump smelling chicken plant. They promise 48 hrs off every week. What they omit is that you are required to park at one their terminals and your off time starts the second you log off duty. Example, you log off at Noon. You'll get the rest of that day, all of the next and then go back to work Noon the following day. Technically, it's 48 hrs, but it's not quality time off as 24 of that is split across two days. They will also promise 2200 miles a week average. You will be lucky to get 2000. Their insurance is expensive and not very good and they will not cover your spouse. They also do not allow pets or riders. Bottom line, if you like being treated like a 2 year old and having your entire day planned for you and you like driving at night and like hanging out at either their terminals, Publix stores or a chicken plan, you might like it. If you're looking for a company that lets you be a professional driver, look elsewhere because you will hate drivzing for Davis Express. They are easily the worst company I've ever driven for.
