Pros
New equipment, most repairs covered under warranty, no driver cameras. The trucks have APU's and Inverters. I had a few different dispatchers, aka Fleet Manager's. They treated me decent, but I rarely talked to any, I usually messaged them I needed something on the QC, they replied back via the QC. I never had an issue getting loads, usually had a pre-plan when I was unloading. I was always on time for home time when I was scheduled. Due to circumstances at home had to leave early and tur
Cons
Company you get 1 day off for every week out, up to 6 days hometime, after that staying out won't get extra days. You will get a light weight, probably an older truck, Lease guys will get the new stuff. Leasing - it's like renting an apartment, you will never own it, you trash it, you pay for it. Downside to leasing is if you breakdown, you get to pay the tow bill even if the truck is still under warranty. Intermodal - You will work 14 hours a day, run out of hours every week, and if your i

I have run 3 divisions at Prime, reefer Company, reefer Lease, and Intermodal. Intermodal was ok, but it is the same routes, and you will burn your 14 everyday, and will burn you out fast. I started as a Company driver, took home around $1,200 a week after taxes, which isn't shabby for a 1st year driver. If you don't have a clue, or can't manage yourself, this is probably not the place for you. Lease - I ran lease for a year, took home on average $2,700 a week after everything as paid. Prime will not let you lease purchase until you have completed a regular lease. If you can't make money here on a lease, you probably need to figure out why, it isn't hard, but Prime will not hold your hand, tell you how to manage your business, so if you can't manage yourself or your business, like a company driver, you will end up not making anything. I left on good terms and am eligible for rehire. Not the best, but definitely not the worse.
