Awesome equipment, all Pete's, all 18 speeds, and nearly all glider kits. Experienced mechanics take care of them regularly, and the shop manager will walk you through small problems over the phone if you're not sure how to fix something small. Family owned company with an extremely friendly and understanding owner. Dispatch is, for the most part, understanding and will get you home if you want to be home. Trailers are okay, some of them have paid for themselves years ago and need to be retired, but they still get the job done. Variety of work!! I started on tanker, then dry bulk, then dry van, now flatbed. Always something new and interesting. They have never been short on work since I've been there (July 2019). Pay is fair, package (van/flatbed) is $.50 mile loaded, $.32 empty, however they are very good about keeping you loaded. Bulk is $.45 loaded, $.40 empty. Anything under 250 miles one way is $20/hour, along with load, unload, tarping, ect... benefits are incredible, UPMC health plan, 100% paid by the company for your entire family. Bottom line, they're a family owned company with a solid reputation, they care about their drivers, pay decent, have good we'll maintained equipment, and pay all of your health insurance. I have been happy here for a year and a half.
An extreme upgrade from my previous job. I am able to get ahold of dispatch 24/7, and they have always had an answer for my questions. I took a hit on my first week because the plant I deliver to cancelled all loads, but that's part of trucking I guess. Second week I killed it. Ran nearly 3,200 miles, I was still home 2 nights during the week and I wasn't even worn out. I was issued an older truck but it runs very well and was nearly spotless when I got into it. I had one problem so far where the check engine light came on, and even though the mechanics were busy they pulled it right in and had me rolling in 45 mins. I have been given benefits here that I've never even heard of companies doing. They honored my prior tanker experience, which started me out on a higher pay grade, and also got me an extra week of vacation time after a year. They're basically treating me like I've already worked there for a year and a half. Also, they pay me to take the truck home. Mind you, I live over 300 miles from the terminal. Everyone at Venezia has treated me very well so far. These are some of the nicest people I have worked for. I hope to have a long career with this company.
