Some people have complaints about Crete. I get them. But I would guess that these are people who don't know how to interact with a trucking company. Me, I went to work for Crete from a company that ran almost exclusively Midwest short-hauls. I'd sometimes spend two months at a time in states that start with the letter "I." That's why I decided to quit, and when I did, I called Crete, and TOLD them why I was considering making a move. They hired me, I'm very hire-able, and I did make the move. Then, next thing you know, I'm doing the same thing with Crete that I was doing with the previous company. After a week of it, I congenially reminded my "asset manager" that I had quit my previous company strictly because I wasn't interested in spending my life in the Midwest doing 400-mile loads. He promised things would get better. A month later, they hadn't. So I put in my 2-week notice. I mean, I'm not a whiner, I'd told them what I didn't want to do, I'd reiterated what I didn't want to do, and I was still doing it. THEN I got that "Come to Jesus" phone call, and I told them I'd give them one more chance to run me the way I want to be run. And they have. Since then. And I'm happy with the money, and the loads. And my "asset manager" is no longer condescending. And I'm no longer micro-managed. I will complain about one other thing though - the truck they put me in had 469,000 miles on it. My only real complaint about that (because the truck runs perfectly fine in every way), is that I can't get comfortable in the thing. Any moment they are going to sell it and put me in a new truck, which is great, but I like to get moved in to a truck, and I still haven't had a chance to do so with Crete. This may be an unusual situation, I haven't talked to other drivers about it. Overall though, pretty happy here.
