Hi drivers, I've got 3.5 years of experience. I've been out of trucking for about 6 months but I'm looking to get back on the road. My last company didn't have any cameras, and I can go back if I absolutely have to, but I'd rather try something new.

I'm based near Staunton, VA. My three requirements are 1- no cameras, 2- home every week, and 3- automatic trannys.

I'm having some trouble getting my requirements met. Might be impossible. Any help would be appreciated. I'm all ears.

I work for J Rayl and get home every Friday. There are cameras, but in a year and a half of driving for them I’ve never gotten a call from the company about anything. I even drove with a sock over the driver-facing camera for a month as an experiment.

They have a terminal in Danville, Virginia.

Lol that's pretty funny. My first company had cameras, but mine broke after about a month. No one ever fixed it haha. Don't ask don't tell.

I wonder if most companies don't actually care about the camera, and it's more to just make the insurance companies happy on paper.

I'll check J Rayl out. Never heard of them. You making good money? Auto transmission?

They’re based in Akron, Ohio, with terminals in Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, and Texas (I drive out of the Sunnyvale, Texas terminal, Dallas suburb). They have something like 500 trucks, so they’re not a small outfit but far from a mega. Family owned, and good folks.

I’m running dedicated for $1200/week before taxes, got that after seven months. And they have more manual transmissions than automatic, but they do have them. I expect that they’ll put you in one if you ask.

Depending on the camera setup, at a former employer if the camera was not working in the yard you did not leave with that truck.
