That’s the way I see it too, it’s never junk lol....
When I bought this engine, it was pulled out of a brush thicket where it was out of sight for many years. It was stripped down too!
It was patented in 1898, but I never stopped till I searched and found all the parts, only thing that’s missing now is the governor, but it can run without it.
Finding the original fuel piping was a chore, but not as bad as the original style Diamond fuel valve, and the big 1 quart piston Oiler on top.
Anytime major work was done on them, the mechanic would stencil the date on the engine, usually the cylinder or connecting rod, this one is dated 1956.....

What do you need? A friend of mine retired a year or so ago. He had two exhd 359s and is still unloading parts. He still has a complete hood in very good condition. I'm sure there's other stuff too, since one truck was for work and one was a resto.cke, singlescrewshaker, jamespmack and 2 others Thank this.

One of my best times was in Bloomsbury, NJ back in the 80’s.
Was delivering up in the Bronx. The Truckstop was a 76 back then if memory serves. It’s a TA now I think at exit 7 on 78.
Setting in the Truckstop listening to the radio & CB, when this driver fires up the CB..... Hey! Any drivers want to go in and buy some hamburgers? We have a grill and my wife will do the cooking.
I for one donated to the cause, and the driver and his wife bob tailed to the local store.
Well, about 6 of us ended up beside a step deck with a grill setting on it. I remember her cutting the onions up and mixing in the meat before cooking it.
Driver out of Texas got his guitar out and done a little pick’n, and we just had a good time swapping stories in the Truckstop parking lot.
Miss those days at times, but life is still good......cke, dwells40, exhausted379 and 10 others Thank this. -

When I use to run Westcoast. The truckstops at Ontario was where ya went. Every evening there would be a cookout on the back of someone's wagon and cold drinks. Made good friends, good business contacts, and free friendly mechanic fixes and if someone was short on cash we would pool our money to help out with a promise of repay with a handshake. ....... yep .....good ole days.
