Hello!! I'm about to climb into a fuel hauler. Not alot of experience, but am safe, hardworking and competent. I'm already hired, just waiting on a start date, but am nervous about leaving my current employer, as I do like them, but they cannot compete with the wage, benefits etc.

Hiring window is Feb-Apr when you traditionally see help wanted postings. I also noted that @MACK E-6 stated they don't slow down, but his area is the exception, not the norm. Most of us slow down this time of the year...

...BUT, this has been far less than a normal year and everyone is hiring to backfill the pause on the economy. Take all the advice that was posted in this thread. I wish I had access to it 10 years ago.

I work in a terminal where inbound outnumbers outbound 3 to 1, and we give freight away even in the slow months. We don’t have enough trucks to cover it all, let alone the man power.

Few years ago you mentioned that deliveries take priorities over pickups at your barn. Guessing the amount of freight you guys are interlining explains this logic?

Seems more rational to hire more drivers and have your terminal assign more equipment.
