Family Dollar/Dollar General $2,000 a day round trip

    I am seeing brokers and carriers posting desperately seeking multiple drivers to run these loads.
    Power only, round trip 300-550 miles a day with driver unload.
    $2000 a day flat.

    I'm being a bit tempted however I know if they paying that and still can't get drivers it must be a job from hell.

    So how bad is it?
    Maybe it's worth it.

    Can't be much worse than tarping in 10 degrees and windy.

    I did a few family dollar loads in the 90’s.
    They used a roller system, so you fingerprint everything and if they don’t have enough rollers to reach the front of the trailer, then you have to carry the cases to the rollers.

    You could probably make easier money. But will def get a workout.
    2k a day is not bad money.

    I got a taste of it too at Werner. It was more about labor than driving. After delivering to 3 stores in one day, a man does not have a problem falling asleep at all.

    They almost got my attention with this, then....
    Thats another problem with these dollar store accounts. AFAIK, they're all driver unload. Sometimes you have lumpers but you still gotta help the lumpers.

    Oh yes it is....
    Most of the dollar store accounts are built for cars... somehow, you gotta get a 70 ft truck & trailer in a place made for cars.

    I could never get the logic behind that fact that... they know they have to get trucks in there, yet get in the shabbiest neighborhoods on narrow streets & build a 5000 sq ft business on a 100' X 75' lot with a drive way that a dually has trouble getting into, the you gotta back into it & around behind the store.
    No thank you. Not even for $2000

    2 grand would leave room to hire a temp worker to help unload if you’re set up for a employee.

    some of them are using roll carts with lift gates. I think with those you just roll the full carts into the store then roll their empty carts back onto your trailer? Not sure if you have to unload the carts or not.

    Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

    The way it worked at Werner was that a driver made himself a trainer and his students were his lumpers and his log books. Easier to unload with two men...
    Most of the stores were in rural areas,
    as a young student I did not mind the labor and also enjoyed to see rural southern America.
    From that experience, I find the Southerners more hospitable and warmer from people found elsewhere...
    $2000 per day for Power Only is a lot of money, unless someone is a stock broker thinking about career change.
    As mentioned above, with that pay, they compensate more for hardships than for the equipment utilization.

    LMFAO. When I first started out, they emailed me offering $1,000/day. I watched their video, and read up on it. I countered at $2,000/day. He said good luck ever getting that as a truck driver. I'll dig up the emails and screenshot them when I get home.

    Actually, I got that email from brokers also....its not $2000 a day. Its UP to $2000 and, its for at least 2 days.

    You pick up your load at 5am the day before you are scheduled to start delivering.

    So.....if you pick up at 5 am on monday, your delivers will start Tuesday morning...
