Is it stupid to get a CDL at age 18, 19, or 20?

I know in all states minus Hawaii, you can get a CDL when you're 18, but you cannot travel to another state until you're 21. However, seeing how most commercial driving jobs even if it doesn't require a CDL still require you to be 21 or older, is there any point in getting a CDL?

Get the cdl anyway. As soon as you're 21, you can hit the road.
Some companies hire cdl drivers as young as 18 for intrastate driving.

    Just about 3 weeks ago.

Pretty crazy driving market here in Fort Myers. I accepted a position but had multiple companies contact me because of resume on Indeed.

If you are looking for a driving job down this way and you cant find a job, there is an issue.

Experience is experience. You may find agriculture jobs that stay intra state doing short hauls. Landscaping companies hauling equipment. Not sure what dump trucks require.

Try your local mom and pop brick and lumber yards. Try your moving companies. Try your entertainment companies that set up stages for concerts, rasslin’ matches…etc. You may be able to get your foot in the door.

    Luck in battle.

You're right; Florida is a good location for truckers.
Ft. Myers is a nice area.

    Yeah I'm enjoying it.

Also, theres decent paying local jobs here. Some are cheap though. Saw a few paying $19 an hour for a Class A. Thats cheap. No wonder they cant find anyone.
