We had one in our frac fleet at Weatherford. I was the only one that had experience with one as Covenant had them in the FLD’s in late 90’s early 2000’s. I was also the only one that could drive it properly. Everyone cussed that truck except me.

That transmission is as good as any Eaton. But it suffers from the same problems in the back section that the 13 and 18 speeds do. Any one of them with tore up synchros in the auxiliary suck. You can’t only split the high side once and shift around it like you can with a 13 or 18 though. You need that splitter to work right on every shift in the box or it’s a nightmare. Anyone who only drove a Super 10 that was ####ed up already would hate the thing with a passion.

More fun than a reg 10, that “ssshhhht” sound makes me feel half an inch taller

I’ve never driven one , but it sounds like it’s shifted just like an 18 speed that doesn’t have a hi/lo range selector ?

I liked them.. we went from those to the Super ten "Top 2".. which auto shifted the top two gears.

    The super 10 was a decent little transmission. The super 10 T2 I wasn’t a fan of

This is the first I have ever used a range selector. When shifting from, say, 4th to 5th, do you pre-select low then shift to 5th, or do you pull out of 4th, select low in the neutral position, then go to fifth? I admit that I’ve been driving it mostly like a five speed and just using the range selector as necessary. It’s a longer pull, but seems to drive pretty well like that.

Just like upshifting a 13 or 18. If you are in 4 high. Flip the switch back and the immediately go to 5th. Now you are in 5 low.
