hello everyone.
i bought a new ambient sensor for my peterbilt 2003 from teltek.
it was working fine for few weeks and now it has started reading higher temperature. about 45f more than the actual temperature.
its mounted on the driver side mirror.

Ive got the older teltek indoor outdoor gauge and its accurate but only depending on where i place the probe. Currently i have it zip tied to my fuel pull line, this is obviously suboptimal, but gives me an idea of real ambient temp when i start the truck, but also provides me with an early warning for fuel gel risk. Come spring ill move it again im sure.
Best location for accuracy would be somewhere it has some air flow, but out of the sun and not directly in the engine airflow that is heated. (Im thinking tucked between battery box and frame) On the mirror is too exposed to sun and if directly on the mirror, will be thrown completely off by the heated mirrors in winterRideandrepair Thanks this. -

I have mine strapped to my mirror bracket. Its usually spot on within a degree or 2. The heated spot mirror shouldn't affect it. Teltek gauges are great when they work but the harnesses are there weak point. I have to replace mine every few years when they start to read all wacky. Yours may have gotten damaged on installation or just defective.
-blitz- and Rideandrepair Thank this.
