I managed to find a parking spot at Cabela's in Lacey WA. Still have a few spots left at this point .

Another factor on cheap loads is some hit you for a claim that’s more than the load pays so you’re stuck fighting it wasting more of your time. Both sides have merit but if your equipment or time gets tied up costing you good outbound loads it’s not worth it . My boss bounces me home empty 1400 miles around 50% of the time after rates tanked and he’s okay with that because his outbound is priced round trip and he splits any reload with shipper 75/25 for him. Having the truck available next week is more important.

Most of loads are of more value than they pay.
Different operations have different characteristics. Carriers on the spot market are not much different than Uber Drivers in how they find freight, whereas contract freight requires commitment and obligation, so there's nothing special in your bouncing back.
Someone who does not have such obligations will go that distance for a rate.

Things on DAT -on more and more lanes - are horrendous. 2 dol per mile, even on less than 300 mile hauls, is becoming rarity.

But those who are will go to hell where on the gate to it the inscription says "Abandon all hope..."

Shippers aren’t exactly stupid either, well, in some sense Atleast, they know the market is down and will fight to lower their transportation costs along with it, some smaller ones will pay a little increase for good reliable carriers they are familiar with, but all the corporate ones are just going to go down for the cheapest any way, and if the broker/carrier won’t get it, they will find one that will

Lol. 2 years ago I was more than happy to make what I could make. With all the tech layoffs happening, how much will that affect the regular economy? Idk. $1 question how long will it take trucking to bottom and thin out? Do they have new truck production solved?
