If it isn't safe for me to tarp it on your property then it's probably not safe to tarp it anywhere so it will not be tarped. If they say they will refuse the load or file a claim if it shows up untarped then they can unload it.

That's just my opinion though.

Can't help with the tarp question.

 

I spent a couple of weeks in Greybull when I was a kid. It was a long couple of weeks. l960 or so. We'd bought a C-119 from Hawkins and Powers and I went up to help get it ready to ferry home for fire season.
If I remember right, drinking and fighting were the only two forms of recreation in that town in those days.

 

Have a policy. If the shipping location does not have a safe place to tarp. Then the load does not get tarped. No arguments, compromises, End of story. My company management backs that 100 percent.

For some reason, these companies think that by not allowing drivers to tarp on the property will absolve the company of any potential liability should something happen. Like a fall or other accidental injury. It doesn’t. If any documents have any statements that indicate the load should be covered, any attorney will quickly prevail in that situation.

At least two places I have loaded out of, used to say the same thing.
Then they got sued, big time. They lost, big time. Now the have tarp sheds.

 

had to fix a hole in my tarp before the rain came and no chance of getting a replacement tarp in time.

Hahaha laid off from just one of my part time jobs, I have about 3 of them.
Probably only about another week or so for that (steel) guy until May or June. I’m actually supposed to start hauling steel for another guy next week…and the concrete guys always seem to need me…
Retirement is grand, I have exactly 30 days before we’re back in the Caribbean again for another 2 weeks

 

I can’t say that I’ve ever seen anyone patch a tarp with duct tape... LOL. Come to think of it, how do the rest of you guys normally patch them?

 

Hh-66 Vinyl Cement and a piece of vinyl. Works best if you can layout the tarp and go over the patch with a roller.
