I have already pointed this out many times but you can’t understand and keep pointing out the same thing. You refuse to learn something new. I’ll explain it again for you. The brakes will NOT over heat if you don’t generate more heat then they can dissipate. That’s how you can ride the brakes all day if you want going downhill. You can still stop if need, the brakes have enough capacity still left in them.
Do you understand that ?

Brandonpdx, ElmerFudpucker, tscottme and 4 others Thank this. -
if someone taught themselves they might have gotten a bad idea and just because they do it and never had something go wrong doesn’t make it a good thing to keeping doing plus now telling new drives it a good Idea.
How do you think only using 8 drive tire will give you more traction vs using all 18 tires? -
How could I use 8 drive tires without using the braking ability of all 10 tractor tires, or even all 18 tires?
Do you think using the jake is applying torque to all 8 drives?Star Rider Thanks this. -
No, that’s part of reason for not using the engine brake or relying on the engine brakes when roads are slippery. The differentials can apply the torque to the drive tires with the least amount of traction, making them lose tractionLast edited: Nov 26, 2025

Then why ask the question is 8 better than 10?Star Rider Thanks this.
-
Because people on here keep saying using the engine brake is better. They believe only using 10 drive tires is better than using all 18 tires for traction. If they could explain how using 10 drive tires is better for traction is better then 18. Then we could learn something or they can prove I’m wrong. I don’t think they can explain this and we will all see they are giving bad information. I’m willing to learn if they can explain how it’s better.

What's the definition of insanity? Something like doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. That's where I feel we are with you, and no amount of reasoning or logic will change your opinion.
Nobody every said or implied that using 10 tires will provide more traction than 18. The fact that you continously fall back to this shows yet again that you cannot open your mind to the fact that it is a matter of degree, and there are advantages to those with any amount of willingness to learn new things and improving one's skills, in using the Jakes at certain times and certain conditions.
Education is the difference between thoughtfull consideration and ignorance. And by education I am referring to a never-ending pursuit of learning, and not formal education. You seem to be stuck and blind to any concept other than what some trainer, somewhere in your past, imparted upon you.Last edited: Nov 26, 2025
