Thank you. Dixon is still a serious chewer as he is still a puppy. He's a service animal, so his size shouldn't be an issue with a company. I'm more concerned with his safety and comfort. I don't think I'll be comfortable with not being able to keep an eye on him while driving. I'm sure it will take time to learn how he'll "use the truck" and then adapt from there. Be safe.

Yes. And I hate how those that do not have a service animal claim their pet is a service animal. It really hurts us that have actual service animals. Dixon is actually a service animal, received trained from a local organization that matches service animals to clients. I've seen so many claim their dog is a service animal, yet you can tell that it has zero training. A service animal must be trained. These people's dog has zero training. Frustrating.

Thank you. Yea, I kinda figured that. I wouldn't want him during training. That way I can focus on learning and driving. Besides, two people and 60 pound Poodle is way too much in such a confined space. Be safe.

Companies don't have to hire you just because the dog is a service animal.
Companies can always say they went with a more qualified candidate or really don't have to say anything and just not hire you.

Depending on what you’re hauling and where you’re picking up it’s a good idea to have a dog that’s used to being on the bed and not being seen. The last thing you want is to show up at a place that doesn’t allow passengers or pets with a dog sitting in the passenger seat. Service animal or not.

Trucking companies have stacks of applications and may need just one or two drivers. The company can pick any two applications they want out of a stack of 50 or 100 applications.
If the company chooses two applicants to hire, out of 50 applications, the company is under no obligation to explain to the 48 they didn't choose, why they weren't chosen.

Very aware. Thank you. That's why you wait for the job offer then mention the service animal.

Understood. If they deny access with a service animal, regardless if they have a no pet policy, it would be a federal civil rights violation to deny "full and equal" access. Thank you.

Thank you. Service animals are not legally "pets" therefore, pet policies do not govern service animals as they are a "protected class" along with the handler. Seems like there might be some educational hurdles I'll have to jump over to exercise my civil rights. I sorta expected that.

    Numb Thanks this.
