Maybe go look at what the wholesale diesel price was the day before the war... Let me help u out, it was 2.59 on a friday.. Trump doesnt like to attack during the week because it crashes the stock market. When the futures market opened up the next monday morning march 1st after the first attack, the price gapped up over 40cents on session open. spiking only 7 days later at 4.50... show me any other time in history the price of wholesale diesel goes up almost 2 whole dollars in a week.. its unheard of.. since the war started it hasnt been below 3.50 (peaked at a dollar lower before the war after 2022 prices) and is currently at over 5.00. which is why pump price is over $6 average in the whole country ...
For reference i added 2022 prices. Peaked in march around 4.50 and broke 3.00 in december 2022..Doesnt seem we had any problem with low prices before the war but lets blame it on everything else. Because orange man do no wrong

First off, the United States has built 10 refineries since 1986. While the total number of refineries is staggeringly lower, total capacity is higher.
If it were American refining capacity we'd see a slower ramp up, not a sharp spike.Toomanybikes and wore out Thank this. -
Might want to stay on vacation.
OBX is pretty nice. I like Assateague Island too.KDHCryo Thanks this. -
But Wally World said it was an everyday low price. It's required that you say that the price is so awesomely low. You're lucky the Gnome in the garden section didn't sneak up and cut your Achilles for mentioning $2.99.

I buy these and just fill up water at one of the pumps in the fuel island.

I bought one bag in 2024 and still have plenty . I will use 2-3 per gallon. Much cheaper and work just as good. You can also add stuff for winter time so it works in cold weather. -
You are right on some of it but not considering the real reasons behind the closing.
They did elect the governors and legislatures that enacted the rules, and they have repeatedly supported climate and air-quality measures that make fossil-fuel infrastructure more expensive.
California’s special CARB gasoline specs, Low Carbon Fuel Standard, cap and trade, air quality enforcement (including large fines), high energy and labor costs, and the 2035 zero-emission vehicle mandate all raise the cost and long-term risk of running a conventional refinery relative to other places.
So they did vote for it in general!Vampire Thanks this. -

The “Real” reason…s none of which Texas is dealing with yet uses the excuse of “environmental regulations” for their closed refineries..lol, no one bad talking Texas..
Back to California..since the early 80’s oil extraction has dropped 75%.. “Depleted oil fields”
What’s left..heavy crude that’s too expensive and uses tons of energy to extract it. What’s needed, tons of money to upgrade facilities..
What was keeping them operational..Middle East crude brought in by tankers.
No pipeline..s bringing in domestic crude.
Shrinking demand for refined gas and diesel.
Oil companies beholden (Legally bound ) to their shareholders to make sound business decisions (profits for shareholders).
“Environmental regulations” like the same excuse they used in Texas. Yet there’s still refineries up and running in California and Texas..how come those haven’t closed?
Blaming the people of California or CARB is disingenuous.
Heck, with all the available oil surrounding Florida you’d think we’d have at least one refinery (we have 3 but they refine other oil products) Not like we have a shortage of land..perhaps it’s the “not in my backyard” mentality?
Everything I typed out is in my words since AI is not really reliable for accuracy. If enough tik-talkers flooded the internet with saying the sky was green, AI would concur, lol.
Enough for now got to get back to looking at $1.75 freight
Long FLD Thanks this.
