What a crock of shizit ! I under stand she broke the law and the school district wants to get the tax money paid to them but come on! Who wouldn't have done the same thing?
This could all be avoided with school vouchers, that would give a perent the choice of what school the kid attends (public or privite)also get rid of the teachers union, that would allow schools to dump the "coasters"that are just bidding thier time till retireing.

That happens here all the time, one of the kids my boys go to school with lives in the same county but in another town and the mother works at the county courthouse thus the kids going to school in the same town as where the court house is so she can pick them up after school and i see other kids being drove to school or driven to a bus stop so the kids can go to school in one town even tho they live in a diff town and it all boils down to the kids going to a better school than the crap hole school where they live so if parents are going to get nabbed they better start doing it here as well. Government just goes to far on crap like that.

This woman was told to give her father custody of the 2 girls so they could attend Copley schools legally but she refused. WHY? she was recieving public assistance (welfare) and did not want to lose her rent free apartment and her welfare check every month. Race has a lot to do with people siding with her, why else would Al Sharpton become involved. Sherry Bevin Walsh is by far one of the best prosecuters in the country, that's why she keeps getting re-elected. Ms. Walsh upholds the law no matter who you are. This woman knew perfectly well that she was breaking the law, but did it anyway, she deserves whatever punisment she gets.

I think we are losing sight of the fact that the woman wanted her kids to have a better future, something all parents should strive towards.

Not to mention, the Mom was trying to better her circumstances through education and this Judge with no wisdom screwed that up as well!!!

Now there are 3 more people that are going to wind up STAYING ON THE WELFARE ROLLS all because Mom did what she felt neccasary to give her kids a brighter future.

Once again the Goobermint stepped in and just made an even bigger mess!!!

And the kids were living part of the week with their grandfather, who lived in the school district she had enrolled them with. She was on TV last week one day, and I happened to catch the interview.

She broke the law, plain and simple.

But the circumstances that drove it, very, very sad.

What I want to know, is if schools are supposedly low on funding, how could they afford a Private Investigator?

Agreed, but it still doesn't overlook the fact she broke the law.

There are grey area's in the law that do make things messed up to prosecute for. But there aren't any lines drawn to determine what "exceptions" exist in a law.

Actually in this law there are. It says in the law that if the school does not meet the testing criteria, as in too many kids are failing, parents have full right to put their kids in a better school in another district. I think there's another regarding dangerous conditions in the school but the article doesn't go into whether that school was dangerous or not meeting criteria. The mother was of the opinion that it was an inferior school and that's why she moved her kids. If she had the means to fight it out in court she might win.
