Not my fav places to go, but I used to be a meat hauler and had to go to 14th Street Manhattan, Hunts Points in the Bronx, and some small butchers in Queens and Brooklyn to drop off a box or two. It wasn't that bad, only thing for me was I always demanded, and I mean demanded my dispatcher have me planned out of there right after or else I would just drive over to Jersey and do a bunch of out of route miles to a truckstop.
I got taken my first trip by a guy, my first time in Manhattan just got over the Manhattan bridge (very small shaky bridge you can see through), had to go to 14th and canal and drop off 1 single box of meat from an overage from up in Maine grr. I was so mad that day for them sending me to NYC for 1 box from a load of 5-600. Anyway this guy was wearing a construction worker type of suit, saw me waiting at light or stop sign, my qualcom directions weren't looking correct so I was basically sitting there trying to get a look around and place myself on a map I had. He comes over and asks me if I needed directions, I was like yea you know this place xxxxx.
So he goes hey man if I can come in your truck ill show you, I said nah you can hang on outside the truck though, and he did during the middle of the day not really worried. Anyway he has me making about 4-6 turns, some real tight and finally we get to the location and he says ok that will be $50.00, I laughed and at the same instant told him to walk that 140 pound box of beef to the customer off my trailer from the street and I'd have his $50.00. He did, but anyway after looking at the map the guy had me driving around in circles basically, and my customer was just to the right of where I was originally almost. The company paid for it anyway so it didn't matter to me, even though they were pissed as hell for $50.00 for 1 box. I usually paid $300-400.00 for an entire load to be hand unloaded around there, very heavy boxes. The one I had left was very heavy compared to most.lunaglow Thanks this. -

I'll bet a $25.00 voucher towards a TTR Hijack Club Membership jacket...you get there during your training with either a Mentor (Swift thing) or a real down home trainer!

And just why is it you haven't visited the Hijack Club thread yet?
