I would definitely give Mort a call and talk to him, I too know of a few drivers that didn't have recent OTR but were hired anyway because they ran local, in NYC mind you.

Well I'm home. Got here about an hour ago.......

I was done loading in Oxnard about 9pm local time last Wednesday night. I decided to drive to Ontario and take my 10 hour break there then head out the next morning. I woke up Thursday morning and left. I stopped in Barstow and got my truck and trailer washed and took a shower at Little Sisters while waiting for my truck to get finished. I don't like starting my day late because it means driving late, but what are you going to do, it comes with the territory. I left Barstow around 3pm and drove to Kingman for fuel. After fueling and eating it was off to Milan NM. I got there just as my clock was running out and went to bed.

I woke up the next morning and had Tulsa OK on my radar. I stopped in Amarillo and fueled. The previous night my APU shut down and came on with a fault code. After getting the manual out I found that the code was for a clogged air filter. I decided to do the simple repair myself. I took the side fairing off, undid the cover to the APU, pulled the air canister off and took out the filter. I took out my air gun I have attached to my seat and blew out the filter. Problem solved. The APU has been working fine ever since. I told the shop about it and they looked up the records to find that it needs a complete servicing. We agreed it would be done when I get back. I told Louie I need to be home the next 3 weeks so I need to do 3 rounds to Florida before I go back out west. He said fine. This will allow me to take care of some business of mine. Plus I can get recharged for the produce season.

I made it to Tulsa and spent the night at the QT at the 238 exit. The next day I left and headed to the rest area at the 108 mm in Indiana. This place has a huge truck parking area so I knew I would be able to find a spot when I got there as late as I would. I woke up Sunday, cleaned house a little, then headed out for the last 680 miles. The weather was great the whole trip back east but I would be hitting rain just at the Oh/PA line. I have always enjoyed crossing the PA line after all these years. I usually take a deep breath and say a little prayer. It's very rewarding to me that I completed another west coast trip safely and that I appreciate what I do on an everyday basis even if the rest of the population could care less.

After crossing the line I finally hit the rain at the 3 mm, at the 4 mm my right side wiper blade went flying. At the 6 mm I was on the side of the road taping a sock over the arm so I wouldn't scratch my new windshield. I stopped at Barkeyville at the 29 mm and bought a new wiper blade and was back on the road in no time. My delivery appt was for 10am Monday so I went to the terminal and dropped off my trip envelope that way I would be paid for this round on Friday. I got to the terminal around 9pm, fueled the truck and trailer then went to the Petro and had dinner. I woke up early Monday morning, showered and went back to the terminal to check with Louie about my reload. He handed me my new load info that was a drop and hook in McElhattan for Orlando that delivered Wednesday.

I got to Pottsville at 9am and was empty by 11. I headed back to Pittston to hand in my signed BOL and to drop the reefer trailer off and get a dry van. I headed out to McElhattan and was drop and hooked by 5pm. I got to Orlando last night around 10pm bumped the dock at our assigned door and was sound asleep by 10:30. At 4am the lumper knocked on my door for the paperwork and at 9am I was headed to the house. That's it for now. God Bless and be safe!

Then I'll bet it was you I saw on I-81 Monday around 11:30 or so heading north. I had just finished dumping a load of coal at a company located along the freeway between the Hometown and Frackville exits, and saw a Calex truck cross the overpass to the road I was on.

On a side note, I received an e-mail from Brian regarding an internet application I sent. I meet their basic requirements and have to fax a full application back to him. Praying and crossing my fingers that my longer list of employers (job hopped a bit prior to 2007) doesn't hurt me too much.

Got my reload info for Monday. Deadhead up to our customer in Griffin GA for a drop and hook Monday night. 1 drop in Scotia NY on Wed, then finals in Mt. Top PA Wed. afternoon. Been to both places a few times so this is a very good 1625 mile trip.

Well I delivered my load with 20mins to spare I would've been there soon but pa was doing dot checks luckily when I came thru the officer just waved me on so I got up to the yard around 11am drop my paperwork off etc and bill asked if I could do him a favor I said sure. He asked if I could go to lock haven and do a drop n hook I said why not extra money n miles for me so I get down here to lock haven. To first quality and drop my trailer I go to shipping for paperwork and then go hook up to the loaded trailer as bobtail over and make my turn to back under I noticed the blue glad hand on the trailer is all screwwed up so I call shop and tell them then I went back to shipping to see if they can swap the trailers they said no problem then as they get ready to load the next one its leaking water from so I just tell em to put the one I brought up its good so now I wate for them to do that so I can get outta here errr.... lol
