My instructor (he actually is the director for truck driver training at 3 different community colleges) told me to run screaming from Werner. He specifically said that he only keeps materials for Werner on hand because they are forgiving as far as the background they will accept. He only brings it up to a student who has a questionable background.

I sometimes wonder how much of a commission these instructors might be getting from carriers for referals.
jbatmick, notarps4me and walleye Thank this. -
From many many post on here suggesting how bad werner is, Always keep a open mind. If you can't find ANY other job, I suggest giving Werner a try. You only get what you put in.

Do a search for Werner on this post and you can read all about them. There will be mixed reviews, it will be up for you to sort through it and make that decision. They will push anything that pays them regardless of your outcome or future. I would go somewhere you pick yourself and oufcourse he would tell you to stay away from their competitor.

Werner is just like all the other huge companies. They grab as many newbies as they can to replace everyone who leaves. I would put them above Swift, and CR, but that's about it, congratulations, You're the best of the bottom feeders.

That said though ... Werner is only as bad as your attitude is toward them. Attitude is everything in ANY industry. If you have a 'poor me' attitude or think you are owed what you want, you will not be successful. First year or so is going to be crappy, you're going to hate it, you're going to say as soon as I finish my 12 weeks/6 months/1 year I'm gone....but if you don't give it a chance, you won't see the benefits of toughing it out.
Good luck finding the right company for you. -
