Just grab a JB Hunt trailer(or any other carrier trailer and roll with it.

Thats what a rookie did at a company i used to work at did...he even went and got it reloaded before anyone at our home terminal realized that the trailer# wasnt in the system...

When asked why he had a JB Hunt trailer he said:

The guard told me to drop my loaded trailer and grab a empty trailer...so i did!!

Dispatchers lie like snails leave slime. They can't help it, it's just their nature. They lie to customers "the driver is 15 minutes away." They lie to drivers "the customer will stay open until you get there." They lie to the boss "the driver had enough time, I don't know why it's late."

If a dispatcher doesn't know there is only one empty trailer and 2 drivers needing empties at a customer it's because he's not asked for a yard check or because he's gotten a yard check and it's better to lie to the second driver than to wave a red flag at the bull. The dispatcher has an impossible job, and I'd rather eat my socks than deal with drivers all day, but they lie all day.

Hell just run with it. JB won't miss it. You could get the load delivered before anyone knew.

That's a nice thing about tankers. There is too much that goes into which one you can use to make it first come first serve. Some products cannot be loaded on top of others, some tanks have liners, rear verses center unloaders. We get an assigned trailer or wash out the one we have.

I almost did that,,, I was still so green. I didn't realize the address was across the street. I was looking for a (your company here) trailer and didn't find any. So I grabbed an intermodal unit (that's where the yeard guy said the MT's were) by (another well known carrier) figured carriers pulled each other's trailers all the time.

Wasn't until I tried to Qualcom in a seven digit alpha numaric trailer number into a 5 digit slot that some one called me up and asked,,, "um,,, where you at exactly?"

Another fun adventure was when I was woken up at 8pm (I was driving overnights at that point. In by 3pm, out by 1am) said a bobtail was swinging by to grab my MT. Don't know why she needed MINE, but okay. Had to wake up again at 10:30 to d/h in the Pilot then my dumb ### went back to sleep. Woke up to a fresh asignment at midnight, drive 200 miles d/h for a 6am p/u. "Ummm, fine where's my trailer?"

Needless to say, overnight dispatch dropped the ball. I showed up at a loading dock with a bobtail. AM dispatch couldn't do a darn thing without their moring cup of coffee so it wasn't untill 10am when they finally answered their frantic urgent messages FROM THE CUSTOMER (they always ignore mine) about what kind of idiot company sends a bobtail for a pickup?!? To make it better they couldn't for the life of them find an MT in the entire state of VA! I bobtailed from Baltimore to Roanoke to Richmond for almost 2 days because of their incompetence! I might not have gotten paid for that tomfoolery, but I wasn't paying for the fuel either donky-hats.

well since "triples" would have been an endorsement he would have had, he pulled one extra trailer...i'd fire him as well....there are NO quadruple trailer endorsements that i am aware of...:biggrin_25522:
