You cannot pay the 2290 until Congress passes a budget. The IRS doesn't even have the forms at my local office. I have no doubt that as soon as they pass a budget we will get a bill. Hopefully, we won't have an increase in the tax.

No one can pay their 2290 until Congress passes a budget. The IRS will not accept payment. If you wish you can call your local IRS office and ask them. I would imagine that there is a possibility that we could have a rate increase in the 2290 tax. I think it is high enough. I usually go by my local IRS office and pay my 2290's. We will probably have 30-60 days to pay them once they pass the budget.

I was at my local IRS office last week and they didn't have any idea when we would be able to pay. But, November could be right by the time they pass the budget and get all the paperwork out.

You may check with OOIDA. I believe they had bobtail for about $60/month at one time. www.ooida.com. Bobtail seems to run from about $30-75/month. Once you lease on you may find a better rate with your carrier. I prefer to deal locally when I can, but I have yet to have any local insurance broker to be the prices that I get from my insurance agent. They are several states away from me. Since I run my own authority I don't need bobtail insurance. You can also check with Northland, Great West, Lancer and Progressive. Travelers may also have something.

You could do a search for truck insurance and see if there are some local agents. There are only a handful of insurance companies that write commercial truck insurance.

    Hi georgeandson,

I don't know wher in tx the orientation. I just applied thru web and they send me package which i faxed back. Well i had my brother living up north who was going to start trucking but he got another job offer which seems better for him. So I am taking his truck.

    Hi G/Man,
Yes I just applied thru ooida and got a quote but I have to talk and see if they have anything temporary. Tried progressive before but they are giving crazy quote ranging in 50K all together.
    Thanks all for the replies
